Zalora brings River Island Back to Singapore!

September 18, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments
Zalora is bringing River Island back to Singapore! River Island is one of my favourite British high street fashion labels and I can still vividly remember how disappointed I was when they pulled out from Singapore in 2012.
River Island is the epitome of quintessential high street fashion and is now available exclusively at Zalora. Rocking the fashion scene along with other popular high street fashion labels such as Topshop, Ms Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins since its launch in the late 1940s, River Island now has a massive following and counts celebrities like Rihana, Rita Ora and Frankie Sanford of British girl group The Saturdays among its fans.
River Island’s edgy-glam street style focuses on both staple and statement pieces that exhibit a bold forwardness without compromising on sophistication and style. Let your creative juices flow and punctuate your wardrobe with River Island’s gorgeous selection of stylish bags, show-stopping shoes, snazzy accessories and funky dresses! I personally adore the well-tailored cutting and workmanship of their apparel. I can finally bring the edgy side of me to work and yet still look polished and put together!
I am certain that many of you are just as excited as I am now that this well-loved brand has returned to our sunny island! Thanks to Zalora’s extensive Southeast Asian network, River Island’s outstanding designs will also be available in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Now that River Island is just a click away, experimenting with fashion and achieving sartorial eloquence has never been easier. The inaugural collection on Zalora was officially launched on 13 September.

Check it out HERE!

Did I also mention that River Island has trendy outfits for guys too?

I don’t know about you, but I’m heading to Zalora for some retail therapy now! 😉

Marie France Bodyline Introduces Hong Kong Artiste Angela Tong As Its New Regional Celebrity Spokesperson & New Revolutionary Treatment – Pro-Freeze

September 9, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

Marie France Bodyline recently unveiled its new regional celebrity spokesperson, Hong Kong Artiste, Angela Tong Ying Ying, and I was honoured to have been invited to the media launch at The Luxe Art Museum alongside Karen and Estelle, where we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Angela.

Angela was a picture of radiance in her short pink dress, as she dazzled the crowd with her signature megawatt smile and of course, her newfound post-pregnancy figure. The star was beaming with pride as she had shed 11kg in just 3 months with Marie France Bodyline’s customized treatments, which included a nutritional plan that was specially tailored to her lifestyle and preferences.

While Angela’s voluptous figure
was the envy of many, she had issues with her hips and tummy, like most
women, even before her pregnancy. The

situation worsened with pregnancy, as she gained more than 12kg and
ballooned to 64kg with a 42 inch waist!

To add salt to the wound,
unsightly bulges appeared along with sagginess around her hips, tummy
and thighs.
 Looking
at her slender figure while she shared about her life-changing
experience with Marie France on stage made it hard for me to imagine she
had a less than desirable figure just recently! After starting
treatment with Marie France Bodyline in April 2013, Angela has lost a
total of 42.25 inches in 3 months, including 12 inches around her waist,
7 inches around her tummy, 6.5 inches around her thighs, 4.75 inches around her hips and 3.5 inches around her arms.
In case you were wondering, her before and after photos were not digitally enhanced, which only goes to show that the results are 100% genuine. Impressive, isn’t it?

Not
only is she slimmer, Angela also opined that she feels more energetic
and healthier after her treatments with Marie France. She is now
enjoying every moment of her new roles as a mother and as Marie France
Bodyline’s celebrity spokesperson in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
After sharing her wonderful slimming experience with Marie France, the vivacious and eloquent Angela
celebrated her new role as a mother by participating in a diaper-changing challenge with emcee Anita Kapoor.

Angela worked her magic and completed the challenge in the blink of an eye. Look at her expertly folded diapers! Evidently, the first-time mum is basking in the joys of motherhood.
When asked if she has plans for a second child, the glowing, effervescent mum and star spoke with disarming candour, revealing that she and her husband are planning for one or two more children.
She also quipped that thanks to the positive experience with Marie France, she is all ready to have more babies now that she no longer has to worry about getting back in shape after giving birth!

Other than Angela Tong, Marie France Bodyline has served a continuous string of celebrity clients throughout the years. It counts Christy Chung, Rosamund Kwan, Vicki Zhao and even local celebrity Kym Ng among its clients.
 Established
in Switzerland, Marie France Bodyline has over 25 years of experience
in helping customers to lose weight naturally. It offers weight-loss and inch-loss solutions without slimming pills, strenuous exercise or strict dieting.
The secret to Marie France Bodyline’s advanced weight management treatments lies in its rigorous research and development efforts worldwide, resulting in the development of innovative technologies to address key issues that women face today, including excess fat tissue, cellulite and lack of skin elasticity.

A personal consultation is first conducted with the Marie France Bodyline professional team of experts which includes skilled consultants and qualified nutritionists. A slimming programme is then specially customized based on your eating habits and daily lifestyle. For lasting results, the team at Marie France Bodyline also encourages clients to exercise regularly and have a balanced diet.
With Marie France, we can all look forward to a healthier, more effective method of slimming and sculpting. Regaining your figure and looking good have never been easier!

Always
at the forefront of cutting edge, results-oriented slimming treatments, Marie France Bodyline also introduced their latest treatment, Pro-Freeze, a revolutionary fat-freezing technology that is touted to be the non-invasive alternative to Liposuction at the media event.

Previously only available in medical clinics, this breakthrough Pro-Freeze
treatment is able to ‘freeze’ away unsightly fat bulges safely and effectively without any discomfort and downtime!

We were delighted to
find out that unlike other slimming treatments, the Pro Freeze
technology is specially developed for targeted areas where you have
stubborn pockets of fat that are generally resistant to exercise and
dieting.

Examples
of problem areas that are suitable for Pro Freeze include tummy (spare
tyres), waist (love handles), hips (saddle backs) and inner thighs. As a
result of desk bound jobs and sedentary lifestyles, these are common
problem areas that plague many of us, even those of us who are slim.
When fats and flabbiness develop in these areas, you will realize that
it is certainly no mean feat to get back into shape.

Sounds all too familiar? Pro-Freeze could just be the solution for you!
How Does Pro-Freeze Work?

Fats
become frozen when they are exposed to extremely cold temperatures.
When fats become frozen, the fat cells degenerate and die off, a process
called adipocyte apoptosis.
What
happens when the fat cells die? Will they remain in your body?
Thankfully, the answer is NO. The degenerated fat cells are discharged
from the body through our body’s metabolism system.
Each
Pro-Freeze treatment session takes about 45-60 minutes and clients are
able to relax and unwind in the comfort of Marie France Bodyline’s
treatment room. A probe is used to administer the treatment and a
powerful suction, coupled with a cooling sensation, can be felt during
the first 5 minutes of the treatment. The cold sensation gradually
dissipates as each targeted area becomes accustomed to the suction.
How Effective is Pro-Freeze?
This
treatment can permanently remove up to 25% of unwanted fat in just 1
single treatment session, dramatically reducing the thickness of the fat
layer.
According
to Marie France, clients will experience visible results in fat loss
just 3 weeks after the treatment. More significant results can be seen
between 3-6 months after treatment.
However, do note that those with major
illnesses (e.g. cancer, liver disease, heart disease and diabetes),
sensitivity to extreme coldness, have previously done fat-removal
treatments or treatments that cause fat cells to die off within the last
2 months (e.g. Cryolipolysis, Ultrasonic Cavitation, Liposuction etc.),
or are pregnant, are not suitable for this treatment.

Vanity Trove August 2013 Edition

August 22, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments
I was brimming with excitement when I received my first personalized Vanity Trove some weeks back. Everything in this trove was handpicked by me and I knew that I would definitely put each and every item to good use because they’re tailored to my beauty profile and preferences.
Did I also mention that the delivery was extremely swift? I received my trove the day right after my order was placed. How very efficient!

Here’s a glimpse at what I chose for my first personalized trove! I received a mystery gift too, and it came in the form of two fruity lite drink sachets, which I will review in detail at the end of the post.
Now, let’s check out the other products that I’ve been wanting to try out.
I am sure Dr Georgia Lee needs no introduction as she is a familiar face in Singapore’s beauty scene. DrGL is Dr Lee’s custom range of skincare specially formulated for Asian skin. I’ve been thinking of trying the DrGL Collagen Essence as it is one of the most highly raved products in this skincare range.
The collagen essence works well as a moisturizer and suits all skin types, including sensitive skin. It is extremely lightweight and easily absorbed by my skin, which makes it a great moisturizer for our humid weather. The best part is, it doesn’t leave any sticky residue or film on your face. It feels just like water but it is incredibly effective in keeping my skin hydrated.

I always like to keep a tube of aloe vera with me when I travel because temperature and climate changes cause my eczema-prone skin to flare up. I love the cooling sensation of the Jorubi Aloe Vera Gel when it is first applied as it soothes and calms my inflamed skin instantly. I use this on my body and the handy size of this sample makes it the perfect travel companion.
Did you know that this multi-purpose gel can be used on your face too? I’ve yet to try it for myself but it can be used to treat a variety of ailments ranging from sunburn, rashes,  bruises and even insect bites!

I’ve heard many rave reviews about Avance Dou Demaquillant Super Eye-Makeup Remover and have been tempted to buy it on several occasions. Thanks to Vanity Trove, I could try this at just a fraction of the original price. 😉 I chose the sample size for my trove, but this is available in full size too! It is a pity that my fingers were too slow and it ran out by the time I placed my order.
This bi-phase make-up remover makes it a breeze to remove waterproof eye-makeup. My waterproof liquid eyeliner and waterproof eyelash glue residue came off with just one swipe without causing any irritation to my eyes. I’m definitely going to buy the full sized item when this runs out!
I have tried GO60’s Go Hydrate Masque in my May Vanity Trove previously and was delighted by how hydrated and plump my skin was. If you are interested in my previous review, click here.

This time, I decided to try their Go Spot-Free Treatment Masque . It would be too onerous to expect the mask to fade away my pigmentation because that just wouldn’t be possible. However, this mask was effective in brightening my complexion without any sticky after feel. Not only did my skin look more radiant, it also felt smoother and more hydrated. Having only used it once, I can’t say much about its spot-free treatment. But this is definitely a great hydrating and brightening mask.

The other sheet mask that I tried was My Beauty Diary’s 2-Step Asia Brightening Pack . Unlike other sheet masks, this particular mask comes with a moisturizer to be applied after the mask. My skin felt thoroughly moisturized after masking, but it felt rather sticky too as the essence and moisturizer were both pretty rich. I personally prefer masks that do not leave a sticky after feel due to the humid climate here, hence I wouldn’t use this in Singapore. Instead, I think this would be a better choice for when I travel to colder climates and would require more hydration.

Vichy is another brand that I have been thinking of trying as its products do not contain soap, parabens or alcohol. Vichy’s Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel has a gel-like consistency that lathers well, resulting in squeaky clean skin immediately after usage. I also love its fruity fragrance!

Huiji Fruity Lite was a mystery gift that came along with my Vanity Trove August edition.  Made from hawthorn fruit and honey, this drink is formulated with vitamin C and xylitol to promote a healthy digestive system. It dissolves readily in both hot and cold water, and is amazingly refreshing to the palate. While I can’t vouch for its effectiveness in aiding digestion, it definitely makes a delicious drink on a warm balmy day.

Crisp White Cotton

August 19, 2013 by Regina Chow 1 Comment
I have a soft spot for crisp white cotton dresses because they radiate an aura of innocence and are the perfect canvas for experimenting with accessories. You can either dress up a white dress with feminine accents, like what I did here, or style it in an edgier fashion with bold statement jewellery and boots. The styling possibilities are endless.
I’m falling back on my usual vintage style in this post as this dress reminds me very much of the shift dresses made popular by Twiggy in the 60s. The flattering baby doll cut emanates an angelic sweetness and the simplicity of the design makes this a classic, timeless number that will never go out of style.

Dress from WhoaBlogShop

Bag from Aigner (Vintage find from Dustbunny Vintage)
Shoes from Dip Drops
Socks from Hong Kong
Hat from Seoul

This little clip-on hat is a treasured find from my recent trip to Seoul. I love wearing hats as they add a touch of panache to any ensemble, but finding a hat that fits well without trapping heat and flattening my hair has always been a challenge. This is the perhaps the best alternative. The only downside is, it does nothing to shield me from the sun.

Oh well, I guess I can’t have my cake and eat it. But it is cute, isn’t it? 😉

Sponsored Video: New Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue

August 17, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

The new Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue is a vintage inspired timepiece that pays tribute to one of Tudor’s most iconic watches, the 1973 sports chronograph ‘Montecarlo’. This incarnation features a unique design that exudes a sense of nostalgia, complemented with a distinctive blend of practical and functional elements that adds a contemporary touch to this exquisite work of art.

What I adore about this watch is its versatility and how it can transition effortlessly from weekends to weekdays with its steel bracelet and fabric bracelet. The preppy chic fabric bracelet in blue, grey and orange hues lends character and a retro, nautical charm to your weekend outfits, while the steel bracelet instantly transforms the watch into a boardroom worthy timepiece.

The Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue may be a men’s watch, but its chic and stylish appearance makes it the perfect accessory for ladies who have a penchant for oversized watches. The epitome of elegance and sophistication, this beauty is a fashion statement and a breath of fresh air in the world of haute horology.

Beauty aside, its technical and mechanical qualities would not disappoint watch aficionados. Housed within a 42mm steel case with a bidirectional bezel, complete with a blue anodized aluminum, the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue is waterproof to a depth of 150 metres (100 feet) and showcases a sapphire glass face accompanied by a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement with a 42-hour power reserve.

Enter the world of Tudor today and marvel at the mechanical mastery and design perfection of its well-crafted timepieces. If time is the ultimate luxury, a reliable timepiece that tells time with utmost precision is the ultimate indulgence.

Hair Treatment at Jean Yip Hairdressing & Jean Yip Style of the Month Contest

August 8, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

Every once in a while, it is important to indulge in a little treat, be it a sugary sweet macaron or a much-needed massage to ease your worries away. What did you indulge in recently?
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have found the picture above familiar. It was taken after my little treat last week, an intensive hair treatment at Jean Yip Plaza Singapura. I did my hair colour with Jean Yip not too long ago (read my previous post on Jean Yip), and this time, I decided a nourishing treatment would be necessary to ensure that my hair remains healthy.

The stylist listened attentively to my concerns about my dry hair ends and subsequently recommended a combination of the Scalp Peel Treatment and Super Silk Thermal Intensive Treatment.
This was my second Scalp Peel Treatment and I am very pleased with the results thus far. My scalp used to be relatively sensitive, and on occasions when I decided to wash my hair on alternate days, my scalp would itch. I used a clarifying scalp shampoo once a week, but even then, it never did resolve the root of the problem.
Benefits of Scalp Peel Treatment
Most issues relating to hair loss and slow hair growth are associated with scalp problems. Did you know that shampoo and conditioner can cause scalp build up over time? Scalp build up causes hair follicles to clog up and eventually lose their ability to function.
The Scalp Peel Treatment not only removes product buildup from shampoo and conditioner, it also removes dead skin and unclogs hair follicles to promote healthy hair growth.

After the first Scalp Peel Treatment, I noticed that my scalp is less oily than before and it hardly ever itches anymore, even if I only wash my hair on alternate days. I am truly impressed because I have tried scalp treatments in other salons but their effectiveness only lasted a few days.

The Super Silk Thermal Intensive Treatment is a heat-activated treatment to deeply moisturize and condition your hair. This was my first time trying this treatment and I think it is pretty effective in taming frizz. My hair looks smoother, shinier and healthier!

Eskpade: A Fashion Escapade

July 31, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

Eskpade is an escapade for every fashionista, where dreams come alive for those with a penchant for vintage inspired hats and fascinators.
Located in the heart of town at Mandarin Gallery, the shop is tastefully decorated in the style of a vintage European store. I was immediately transported back in time to different stages of the 20th century, from the early 1920s where exquisite Great Gatsby-inspired hats took center stage, to the 1950s and 60s where iconic pillbox hats and berets stole the limelight.

The brainchild of owner and designer Kristine Hakim, Eskpade showcases bespoke embroidered accessories that are exclusively designed and lovingly handcrafted by Kristine, who draws inspirations from her travels. Every creation is unique and no two pieces are the same.
Unadorned hair may be beautiful on its own, but hats and headpieces have the power to pull together an ensemble with aplomb. Whether you are looking for a bridal headpiece to go with your wedding gown, or an elaborate fascinator to wear to the races, you can be sure to find something that tickles your fancy over at Eskpade.

Kristine lived most of her life in Singapore, where she obtained a Diploma in Fashion Design from Raffles Design Institute. To pursue her dreams, she moved to Paris to train at the renowned L’ecole Lesage atelier de borderie, Paris American Academy and the most established fashion school in Paris, Studio Bercot. She has also worked with French haute couture designer, Dominique Sirop, Esther Perbandt in Berlin, textile and style curator, Jennifer Shorto and Studio Bercot as the textile application lecturer in Paris.

At Eskpade, the possibilities are endless under the deft hands of Kristine. The best part is, you can also choose to customize a headpiece that complements your outfit or best reflects your personality. In fact, this was an offer that Kristine kindly extended to Karen and I for the Singapore Blog Awards. Given the time constraint, we decided to pick something off the shelf to embellish our crown and glory instead, but even then, we were spoiled for choice.

Both Karen and I really adored this whimsical pillbox hat with a cute little robin perched atop. Not only is it elegant, it also lends a touch of quirkiness to any outfit. The attention-grabbing design is also bound to be a conversation piece.

If not for the fact this was not quite in line with the 60s theme for the Singapore Blog Awards, I would most certainly have taken this gorgeous work of art home!

I personally like this summery straw hat which happened to complete my outfit that day too. I looked like I was all ready to go for a picnic! Now, who said that hats are only meant for glamorous occasions? This hat, for one, is so versatile that it can be worn for casual parties, picnics and lunch dates. Adding flair to your everyday style has never been easier.

Now, what would I pick to wear at the races? Although I wasn’t able to attend the Emirates Cup this year as I was in Seoul for the Asian Premier of Wolverine, this red fascinator would be one of my top picks for future events at the Turf Club. The classic design, coupled with the fashion-forward structure, makes you stand out from the crowd instantly.

Although I eventually chose a Valentino inspired design that left me weak in the knees (you will see the hat in my blog post on the Singapore Blog Awards soon!), this cute feathered beret was one of my shortlisted choices for the Singapore Blog Award. I love how Kristine gave an otherwise plain beret an unexpected twist with the exceptionally long, angled feather. It shows how much attention she pays to details.

For a more feminine take on feathered berets, this purple beret embellished with exotic peacock feathers would fit the bill perfectly.

For more formal occasions, you can also opt for this fancy turquoise feathered pillbox hat to add a fashionable accent to your outfit. Then, add the final finishing touches to your look with a classic french twist or an elegant flip in the style of Jacqueline Kennedy. And there, you’re picture perfect!

Kristine’s keen eye for aesthetics and unrivaled handcrafting skills are distinctive traits that set Eskpade apart from the run-of-the-mill hat shops. Indeed, it is a gem waiting to be unraveled in Singapore, where bespoke hats and fascinators of excellent workmanship are hard to come by.

Jean Yip Style of the Month Campaign

July 22, 2013 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

Jean Yip Hairdressing is a household name in Singapore and for many of us living on this sunny island, this is one reputable and established salon that certainly needs no introduction.
For those of you who are on my Facebook, you may have noticed that I was recently invited to be one of the 10 special guests for Jean Yip’s Style of the Month Campaign! It is a great honour to be able to participate in this 3-month long campaign and from now till September, Jean Yip will be working their magic on my hair. You’ll be getting regular updates on my experience too!

Before I share my first experience at Jean Yip with you, here’s some information on how you can participate in Jean Yip’s Style of the Month Contest and win some prizes!

So, I visited Jean
Yip’s branch at Plaza Singapura earlier this month, where my stylist
Andy, who is also the manager of the branch, gave my hair a fresh coat of colour, a trim and a variety of hair treatments.  Before I take you through the entire hair transformation, here’s a picture of myself when I first stepped into the salon, taken by Andy.

Prior to colouring, Andy used a machine which showed the state of my scalp. As my scalp was rather oily, he recommended the Scalp Peel Treatment to remove dead skin and cleanse my hair follicles to restore optimal scalp health. This treatment also prepares your scalp for chemical treatments such as colouring, which may expose your scalp to sensitivity.

Andy then picked out a vibrant shade of blonde called Copper Golden Very Light Blond for my dye job. Thankfully for me, my hair colour is naturally brown and it absorbs colour very well, hence no bleaching is required to achieve lighter colours.

After colouring, my hair was treated to an Oxygen Mask. I always make it a point to do hair treatment after colouring as chemical treatments can be damaging in the long run. Given that I touch up my hair colour at least once every 2 months, it is important that the right steps are taken to maintain the condition of my hair and scalp.

Here, you’ll see how glossy and manageable my tresses are after a trim, colour and treatment. If you compare this to my before picture, you will notice that my hair definitely looks smoother, shinier and healthier!

Just when I thought that was the end, Andy surprised me with yet another type of hair treatment called Photo Biostimulation Hair Therapy.
Laser therapy is used in this case to revitalize and nourish hair follicles, with the aim of stimulating and accelerating hair growth. If you face hair loss issues, or even if you just prefer to have a fuller head of hair (like me!), this may just be the solution for you.

Finally, here’s the end result after about 2.5 hours at Jean Yip. I especially enjoyed the variety of hair treatments here, which sets it apart from its competitors.
Scalp treatments at most salons only involve a scalp cream without the
use of any machines to assess your scalp condition or to remove dead skin
which clogs hair follicles.
I personally feel that the scalp treatment here is more effective than most scalp treatments that I’ve tried. It left my scalp feeling squeaky clean and my hair felt lighter and more voluminous instantly. My bouncy, cascading curls are the best testament.

I would definitely opt for the scalp treatment again when I next visit Andy for my monthly hair indulgence. I also intend to continue with the Photo Biostimulation Hair Therapy, just to test out the results over time.

You know how
everyone leaves the salon looking fabulous, but after a day, your hair
ends up looking flat and lifeless again? Well, that certainly didn’t
happen for me. Look at how luscious my hair looks on Day 2, after a day
out in our terribly humid weather.
Do watch this space for more hair updates with Jean Yip!

John Frieda Frizz Ease Range: Battling Frizz Has Never Been Easier

July 21, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments
I have very fine hair which is naturally prone to flyaways and frizz. My ends are especially dull and frizzy as a result of chemical treatments like colouring and perming. While I don’t perm my hair as often these days (it has been 7 months since my last perm), repeated colouring has left my ends damaged and dry.
Hence, you can imagine my delight when I received an invitation to try out John Frieda’s Frizz Ease range just when my current hair care products were running out. How very timely indeed!

 Background of John Frieda
John Frieda is a British celebrity hairstylist who began his hairstyling career way back in 1968 and eventually started his own line of hair products. Today, the John Frieda team is led by a team of celebrity stylists, including Kerry Warn, the hair designer for The Great Gatsby movie.
More importantly, John Frieda’s team of stylists aims to understand and solve your biggest hair woes and transform your hair using salon-calibre products to achieve the look that you have always desired.
About the Frizz Ease Range
The Frizz Ease Range is specially formulated for ladies with unruly, frizzy hair and would like to tame her tresses and keep frizz at bay.
Having tried many products that claimed to battle frizz and tame flyaways, only to realize that the results were temporary, I was initially a little skeptical that John Frieda’s Frizz Ease Range would work. But, photos certainly don’t lie. Look how smooth and glossy my hair was after just one day of usage!

Even JW
complimented me on my hair when I first switched over to John Frieda’s
products, which really surprised me because he usually doesn’t notice anything. I guess that only means that the products do work!

Step 1: Frizz-Ease Straight Ahead Shampoo & Conditioner

Most moisturizing shampoos weigh my hair down. Some even leave a residual film in my hair which causes my scalp to itch.
Surprisingly, the Frizz-Ease Straight Ahead Shampoo turned out to be different. The lightweight formula delivers moisture to my hair without any residue. My scalp feels clean and my hair is smoother and silkier.
I have used many types of conditioners, including several famous salon brands, but my vote goes to the Frizz-Ease Straight Ahead Conditioner as it is the best conditioner I’ve used thus far. The unique formula comprises a Frizz Mending complex and olive oil which boosts moisture and provides optimal nourishment to my hair. My hair immediately feels softer and more manageable.
Step 2: Frizz Ease Hair Serum
The Frizz Ease Hair Serum for Medium to Coarse Frizzy Hair is the most highly acclaimed hair product in the entire Frizz Ease Range. Voted as the best styling and anti-frizz product in over 10 magazines in the UK and US, this award-winning serum is also John Frieda’s best-selling product, with 1 bottle being sold every 30 seconds.
For those of you who have been reading my blog, you would probably know that I sleep with sponge curlers to achieve my curls. Sponge curlers deliver bouncier and more long-lasting curls as compared to curling tongs. More importantly, the absence of heat also means that this curling method does not damage my hair at all.
I have been applying this serum on damp hair everyday after shampoo and conditioner, before I use my sponge curlers, and the results have been nothing short of amazing. Not only does the serum help to seal in moisture and tame frizz through its humidity repelling formulation, it also lends a healthy shine to my tresses. My hair remains glossy lasts throughout the day until my next shampoo! This is my favourite product out of the entire range.
Step 3: Dream Curls Styling Spray
I use the Dream Curls Styling Spray together with the Frizz Ease Serum to achieve bouncier, more defined curls. Its non-alcohol and magnesium-enriched formula penetrates every strand of hair to restore elasticity and spring. After smoothing on the serum, I spray a light mist of this styling product on my hair ends before proceeding to curl my hair with my sponge curlers.
On days when I attend functions and events, I would also lightly spritz the Frizz Ease Firm Hold Hairspray all over my hair for better hold. I like that it contains sunscreen and can protect your hair from harmful UV rays.
Weekly Intensive Care: Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque
This masque replenishes moisture to restore balance, shine and softness for frizz-defying results. Formulated with milk protein, Vitamin E and Avocado Oil, it mends the hair surface and transforms dry, brittle hair into silky soft hair. I have used this twice so far, and a little goes a long way. I can foresee that this tub will last me a couple of months at least.

Overall Review
I only decided to
write a comprehensive review 2 weeks after using this range because I
wanted to test if the results would last, and I am happy to report that 2
weeks on, my hair has remained smooth and shiny. I wouldn’t say my hair
is completely frizz free now, but it is approximately 90% frizz free,
which is good enough for me.
If you’ve an issue with frizzy hair, give John Frieda’s Frizz Ease range a go!
For more information, do visit John Frieda’s website:
http://www.johnfrieda.com.sg
John Frieda Frizz Ease Range can also be found in selected Watsons stores and Guardian pharmacies.

June Vanity Trove & Personalized Vanity Trove

Vanity Trove never fails to spring a treasure trove of surprises on me every month, and the June edition was no exception.
The Apivita range came as part of June’s Vanity Trove. Founded in 1979, Apivita is the first Greek company to incorporate natural ingredients into beauty products. Did you know that all Apvita products contain high biological value bee products,  Greek plant extracts from organic cultivations and 100% pure organic oils? All their products are free of mineral oil, Parabens, silicone and Propylene Glycol.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to try out the natural goodness of Apivita products. The Cleansing Purifying Tonic Lotion (S$36 for 200ml) contains natural cleansing agents specially formulated to for oily and combination skin. The unique combination of propolis, citrus and tea tree essential oils gently removes dirt and oil while refreshing and rejuvenating your skin. I am a fan of citrus scents and I personally think that the citrus and tea tree essential oils energize my skin and give me the much needed pick-me-up in the morning.

The other Apivita products in my June Vanity Trove include the Light Texture Face Cream for Oily-Combination Skin SPF 30 (S$56 for 50ml) and Express Beauty Green Clay Mask (S$58 for a box of 12).

I have yet to try out the face cream, but I have tried the Express Beauty Green Clay Mask and found it to be an effective deep cleansing mask. One sachet goes a long way and I was able to get 3 applications from this little sachet alone.
Whenever I felt that my pores were starting to get clogged or when little bumps started appearing, I would slather on a thin layer of the clay mask. It is great for purging impurities and has a soothing effect on my skin. My pores feel clean and my skin feels revitalized after just one application.

Besides the Apivita range, I was also very happy to find Korea’s No. 1 preferred collagen, Ultimate Colla-gen (S$88 for 30 sachets) in my trove.
I have been taking DHC’s collagen drink and collagen powder for a while (albeit on and off) and I feel that my skin is more supple when I drink it. I am interested in finding out if other collagen brands are just as effective, and the fact that Ultimate Colla-gen offers nano-molecular collagen and thus increases the level of absorption into our body, makes it all the more enticing. These handy sachets are great for travelling too as you can simply add them into your drinks when you’re on the go!
I love the multitude of quality beauty products ranging from skincare, haircare, health, and bodycare randomly selected by Vanity Trove, as it allows us to discover and try out the latest products in the market before purchasing the full-size products in stores. However, wouldn’t it be better if your Vanity Trove now consists of products that are specially customized based on your beauty profile and preferences?

Well, that is exactly what Vanity Trove has in store for all of us! The June Edition of Vanity Trove is the last of its kind and moving forward, all Vanity Troves will be personalized. Isn’t that good news? 🙂
