Monochromatic Colours

June 23, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I love colours and the recent colour blocking trend has got me all excited. But on days when I feel lazy, pairing black with white always works, which is why I have an ineffable penchant for monochromatic colours too.

I am already on the plane to Bangkok as you are reading this! I’ll be there till early next week. ๐Ÿ™‚

Feathery Neutrals

June 20, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
The understated elegance and versatility of neutral shades should never be undermined. Besides black, neutral shades are the only other colours that add a touch of sophistication and finesse to your wardrobe effortlessly.

Forever 21 applique top

Tiered skirt from Fa Yuen Street, Hong Kong

Transparent Heels with leopard print soles from Far East Plaza

I got this ethereal feathery skirt from Fa Yuen Street in Hong Kong during my recent trip but I never found the opportunity to wear it till recently. Gorgeous isn’t it?

My love for neutrals doesn’t just stop there. I finally got my hands on the highly coveted Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette which I’ve been waiting for since Christmas!

Rocker Chic

I tend to swing to extremes when it comes to experimenting with fashion. You’ll catch me in a feminine, flouncy dress one day but the next day, you may see me in a drastically different look, what with ripped jeans, gladiators and all. That’s probably my alter ego breaking loose. Haha..

Topshop asymmetrical singlet with tassled back

Ripped Jeans from Argyle Centre, Hong Kong

Open-toed ankle boots

Chanel Nails

June 18, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
OPI Malaga Wine

I sat in front of the telly this morning and decided that I wanted to add something different to my nails. That was when my little packet of Chanel logos, which I purchased for nail art a while back, came in handy. These apparently come in the sticker form now, so you can stick them on easily without the hassle of using a clear varnish. I got mine from fayfey.livejournal.com.

I was initially worried that the end result may turn out tacky, but the gold logo and the wine base colour appear to work well together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Jun’s Birthday

June 18, 2011 by Regina Chow No Comments

I had a fun-filled week celebrating my gf Jun’s birthday, which effectively lasted about 2-3 days. First up was her pre-birthday celebration at the largest private room in Lunar.

Tian, Mavis and I got her a gorgeous black bow BCBG accessory watch. I loved it so much I wanted to get one for myself but alas, there weren’t any left in the shop!

Here’s what the watch looks like (picture credits: ASOS). I need to make a mental note to myself to get it one of these days.

It was a fun-filled night with great music, singing, booze and last but not least, the best company. Jun is one of my oldest friends and we go way back to JC days. She’s looking younger everyday though, especially with her bangs. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Happy Sweet 18th Birthday babe!

Now, here’s what I wore to Lunar:

River Island toga cut-out dress
CK bracelet watch
Transparent heels with leopard print soles from Far East Plaza

On her actual birthday, Mavis and Tian decided to bake her a cake at the spur of the moment. I rushed down after work only to catch a glimpse of the cake already baking in the oven. The shape of the cake turned out a little dubious (it cracked and a part of it actually collapsed..hahaha) but the two ladies made it all good with dark chocolate fudge and succulent strawberries! The cake was so finger-licking good!

And while the two ladies were busy with the cake, I just stood there in awe, occasionally dipping my fingers into the baking tin to savour the goodness of the residual crumbs. The only thing I did was draw the white heart and write part of the birthday girl’s name on the cake.

Another mental note to myself: I ought to start honing my cooking and baking skills now that I have time on my hands!

The actual day celebration lasted till the wee hours of the morning, starting with dinner at Tonkichi, followed by Kungfu Panda 2 and finally ending with several rounds of bingo at the gambling queen’s (i.e. the birthday girl’s) abode.

Before you start worrying for our health, fret not, for we’ll be going for yoga soon. Yay to healthy activities!

Nantsuttei@ Parco Millenia Walk

June 17, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Santouka at Central is my favourite ramen restaurant in Singapore and I hardly go anywhere else for ramen given my fastidiousness. Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Natsuttei at Millenia Walk serves pretty decent ramen too.
The signature ramen here comes with a black tonkotsu soup base. Don’t be frightened by the black soup though, for it is really just roast garlic oil. The roast garlic oil enhances the overall flavour of the soup base and is the secret behind the rich, savoury soup! My only grouse is that every bowl of ramen comes with a very generous serving of bean sprouts, so you may want to alert the servers if you’re not a fan.

I prefer my ramen to be slightly spicy, so I went for the Dragon Ramen, which is only mildly spicy. For those of you who love very spicy ramen, Nantsuttei offers four levels of spiciness for you to choose from. Check out their banner below. Besides their ramen, I adore their sense of humour too. LOL

My outfit for the day was a simple striped dress given to me by Karen.

Transparent heels from Far East Plaza

Vintage Aigner straw bag from Dustbunny Vintage

Have a good weekend everyone!

Dinner at Karen’s

June 16, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
These days, my life only revolves around food. After lunch at Halia, I headed to Karen’s place for dinner and cake! Karen baked a fruit cake for everyone and a fondant birthday cake specially for Jolene.

Jo was still in Brunei at that time, so nobody was allowed to touch the gorgeous cake! Since we literally couldn’t have a slice of the cake, everyone turned their attention to baby Andre, Koji’s little darling boy instead. LOL.

Andre is such a cutie pie we absolutely couldn’t resist taking photos with him. He is very active too and is constantly on the prowl for new toys. One minute, he was peering curiously at JW’s book entitled “Called to Lead”, which we all thought was a very promising sign indeed, but the next minute, he was caught biting on Koji’s LV wallet and using it as a teething toy!

One thing’s for sure – the kiddo has expensive taste!

Halia Restaurant

June 16, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Shihui, Rafidah and I met up at Halia Restaurant for lunch one scorching hot afternoon. It was so hot and humid I regretted suggesting meeting up at the botanic gardens the moment I stepped out of my door.

Despite the weather, the restaurant was so packed with patrons (all tourists perhaps?) we couldn’t even get seats in the air-conditioned area.

Having heard rave reviews about Halia, I found their main courses rather disappointing. What saved the day however, were their desserts and drinks. The desserts are among the best I’ve tried. Their wide range of ginger-infused drinks are also very innovative and surprisingly delicious. I would most certainly return to Halia for desserts and tea.

Thereafter, ready to brave the sunny weather with my trusty hat, we took a stroll in botanic gardens on our way to the carpark. I remember how I used to come here ever so often with my parents as a kid. The garden has changed so much since, but its beauty has always remained unrivalled. I’m thinking of going back soon for the upcoming Chopin and Liszt concert.

One note of caution though! If you’re thinking of taking a stroll here, remember to slather on some insect repellant for the botanic gardens is also a playground for mosquitoes!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
