Coffee, Tea or Mint?

November 15, 2011 by Regina Chow 6 Comments
Nope, this isn’t about beverages. I’ve just fallen in love with mint coloured apparel, especially those with dainty floral prints.

Mint floral top from KandyKayne
Lace shorts from Hong Kong

The colour is unique yet feminine, unlike the usual suspects such as pink, white or even blue. I personally think it’s a refreshing change.

What about you? Do you like mint as much as I do? πŸ™‚

Retro girly style

November 6, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
Retro elements incorporated into feminine outfits – that’s the retro girly style that has been pretty popular in the recent issues of Vivi magazine.

Crochet shorts, hair bow, nude pumps and lace socks from Argyle Centre, HK

Mustard top & straw bag from Bugis Village

Think peter pan collars, detachable collars (like the lace one I made in my previous post), polka dots and mustard hues, among other retro and vintage styles.

Now, for the girly elements. First up, we have crochet. I love crochet skorts/culottes because they go with practically anything and everything.

Then, we have the giant hair bows. This green polka dot hair bow completes the look from head to toe. Its light green hue, polka dot fabric and lace details give it a vintage vibe.

Who can get enough of straw bags? Don’t underestimate the size of this little straw sling bag for it can hold everything that I need, including my camera, handphone, cards and money!

Finally, the socks with shoes trend is still going strong. I adore socks with lace details, like this pair over here. Matched with nude pumps, you’ll get that vintage schoolgirl look instantly!

Rosettes, Lace & Liz Lisa

October 31, 2011 by Regina Chow 1 Comment
I’ve been really attracted to rosettes recently. In this outfit alone, you can probably spot a gazillion rosettes all over, not just on my bag, but on my shoes and even in my hair.

Lace top & corduroy lace shorts from Argyle Centre, Hong Kong
Rosette bag from ClubCouture
Camellia hair clip from H&M
Transparent heels with flower clip-on from Far East Plaza

I know it’s fall now, but my heart still pines for the Liz Lisa Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The floral prints, frills and lace apparel are so charming and whimsical, they actually remind me a little of Alice in Wonderland.

These pictures brightened up my otherwise dreary and rainy Monday afternoon. Hope they had the same effect on you as well! πŸ™‚

Polka Dots Overdose

October 28, 2011 by Regina Chow No Comments
I just came back from Hong Kong with a whole bunch of socks. I’ve been crazy about socks recently, especially those with lace details and am looking forward to pairing them with all my shoes. πŸ˜‰

One fateful rainy day, I decided it was time my long sleeve polka dot tunic see the light of day again.

The last time I wore this was when I was holidaying in Prague here . I think it looks a little different with my pearl detachable collar and a pair of lacy polka dot socks.

Which look do you prefer?

Polka dot tunic from Far East Plaza

Lace polka dot socks from Sogo, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Detachable pearl collar from LaForet, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Quilted flats from Chanel

Have a great weekend everyone!

And if you’re attending any Halloween parties this weekend, have a ball of a time!

Amelie Anne Sienna Jersey Dress

October 7, 2011 by Regina Chow 8 Comments
Looking effortlessly chic has never been easier with Amelie Anne’s Sienna Jersey Dress!

The beauty of the dress lies in its simplicity. The cut flatters just about any body shape and the material (cotton with satin lining) is so soft it caresses your skin.

Once again, I was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and would definitely recommend every girl to have one of these jersey dresses in her wardrobe!

Remember I mentioned that versatility is always key in Amelie Anne’s The Label Love collection? To me, this Stella McCartney inspired dress is the epitome of versatility.

You can dress down by wearing it without the sash or glam it up with a simple necklace like I did. When the weather gets chilly (it’s so unpredictable nowadays, even in Singapore!), just throw on a cropped jacket to complete the look!

The best part is, the Sienna Jersey Dress also comes in a multitude of colours, including bold primary colours and subtle shades of grey and cream.

Can’t decide which colour to choose? LOL I can totally understand because I love them all!

You know it’s time to reward yourself after a long work week, so what better than to indulge in a little retail therapy at Amelie Anne!

I left my heart in Cesky Krumlov

October 3, 2011 by Regina Chow 6 Comments
Located in the Czech Republic, Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of this city remains untainted as the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style architecture in Cesky Krumlov have been painstakingly preserved since the 14th century. Therein lies its beauty.

It is a popular destination for tourists, but only for day tours (thankfully!). We were grateful to have spent a little more than 2 days in this city, for that gave us the opportunity to explore the streets, take in the breathtaking sights and bask in the tranquil beauty of the surroundings in the absence of crowds.

Whenever our legs threatened to give way, we would plonk ourselves on a bench by the Vltava river. The sound of the flowing river, accompanied by the warm sun rays and invigorating cool breeze, immediately cast our weariness away.

We were instantly refreshed. Every time.

I wish I could go back to Cesky Krumlov again and just let my worries be carried away by the river. So many things have happened lately and it got me thinking again about how unpredictable life is. Nobody knows what will happen next and more often than not, many things are beyond our control. Maybe it’s God’s way of telling us that we ought to seize the day and grab every opportunity possible to achieve our goals in life.

I was reading a friend’s Facebook status update today and what he said struck me deeply. He said he is not afraid of death, but he is afraid of the opportunities that death would rob him of and is hence spurred on to work even harder to attain his goals. Even if death is not in the equation, sometimes poor health and other unforeseen circumstances are equally capable of robbing us of our opportunities.

I tend to procrastinate, but everything that has happened recently has made me reflect on my attitude, behavior and past actions. I believe in cause and effect, and while it is impossible to turn back time, it is definitely possible to change your life going forward by taking baby steps, one step at a time.
Well, at least I am close to achieving one baby goal in my life, which is to see the world. I say I am close to achieving this goal because there are still a few more countries on the map that I have yet to step foot on. πŸ™‚

On a lighter note, fashion is my other passion and you know I’ll always try to leave you with some outfit photos in every post. I’ll try to put up more items for sale soon too. πŸ˜‰

Black cardigan with white Victorian silhouettes – gift from Karen

Black Mesh Skirt from ClubCouture (remember to key in REGINA2011 upon checkout for 15% off)

I’m ending this post with a picture of us having a romantic dinner in Krcma Barbakan, a very popular restaurant in Cesky Krumlov. The restaurant premises are a few centuries old!

The playful restaurant owner grabbed JW’s camera while he was footing the bill and started snapping photos of me finishing the last morsels of food on my plate. Then, he insisted that JW sat across the table from me so he could take a couple shot of us.

We were told to look into each other’s eyes and smile. Hahaha.

And Fall is Here

September 23, 2011 by Regina Chow No Comments

I’ve been travelling for a month now and dressing up everyday, especially when I’m transitioning between summer and autumn, can be a real challenge. I could be in shorts one day and all wrapped up the next day because of the crazy weather.

Temperatures can vary very drastically from city to city too. There was one point in Slovakia when I even had to pull out my winter trench because it was freezing cold! Brrr…and the funniest thing was, when I reached Hungary the next day, it was summer all over again!

Here’s one of my get-ups for the fall season:

Black turtle neck blouse from Uniqlo

Denim skinny jeans from Mango

Cowl scarf from H&M

Tote bag from Prada

Nude patent wedged boots from Far East Plaza

I had just arrived in Cesky Krumlov from Prague where it rained in the morning (read: massive temperature drop alert!!). It was hot and sunny when I took these photos and I was getting all these curious stares from passersby who probably thought I was from outer space. LOL

Needless to say, I changed out of my outfit the minute I reached my hotel room! πŸ˜›

Prague and Charles Bridge

September 21, 2011 by Regina Chow 8 Comments
The most iconic attraction in Prague has got to be Charles Bridge. Everyday, without fail, it draws throngs of visitors who jostle past one another just to capture that picture perfect shot, not just of the bridge itself, but also its surrounding scenery and the Vltava river. To be honest, I wasn’t particularly bowled over by Charles Bridge because having heard so much about the beauty of Prague, I probably had unrealistic expectations of what it has to offer. πŸ˜›
But once I saw Prague by night and the Charles Bridge from across the river bank during lunch at Hergetova Cihelna, all of that changed. It really is a beautiful city and photos don’t lie, do they? πŸ˜‰

See what I mean? Prague by night looks like a city of glowing jewels.

By day, Charles Bridge looks magnificent against the backdrop of Prague’s charming Old Town. Unlike other European cities, the roofs of the buildings here come in warm colourful hues of red and green.
Dining outdoors beside the Vltava river in the company of such lovely scenery is definitely a worthwhile experience, even for someone like me who usually avoids the sun like the plague! I would recommend dining at Hergetova Cihelna, a popular restaurant under the Kampa Group of Restaurants in Prague.

The food was great and the service was topnotch. Our server was very professional and had a wonderful sense of humour too. When we requested for her to take a photo of us, her witty reply was “Why, of course..that’s my second job!” LOL

My delicious main course – Crispy salmon with potatoes
JW had risotto instead, which was equally yummy.

We headed to Prague Castle thereafter, the next most popular attraction after Prague’s Old Town and Charles Bridge. But I’ll save that for another time and leave you with my outfit photos instead.

For some reason, my outfit that day drew quite a bit of attention from fellow tourists (including Asians!) and they all started snapping photos of me, thinking I was a Japanese girl. They were all quite shocked to learn that I was from Singapore. Never judge a cover by its looks people! Haha I was flattered yet pretty embarrassed at the same time.

Prague Polka Dots

September 17, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I’m sorry I haven’t been updating as frequently, but I’ve been so overwhelmed by the sights and happenings around me. I’m currently in the Czech Republic, where I visited Prague and am now in Cesky Krumlov, a beautiful town that is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. I’ll blog about the attractions I visited in Barcelona and Prague separately when I have better wifi connection and more time on my hands. Of course, I will also be replying your comments soon. I love reading them so do keep them coming!

For now, I’ll leave you with an outfit shot in Prague. πŸ™‚ Don’t be deceived by these photos on the iconic Charles Bridge. The bridge looks practically empty here, but truth be told, the maddening crowd in Prague almost drove me crazy because I couldn’t admire the beauty of the city in its entirety without having to elbow through truckloads of tourists!

Polka dot tunic from Far East Plaza

Nude patent wedged boots from Far East Plaza

Ribbon bag from Naraya

Rosette ribbon hair clip from Ching, Far East Plaza

This polka dot tunic is one of my favourite pieces for travelling. It doesn’t crease at all, is lightweight and thus perfect for hotter days. It is also great for layering when temperatures nosedive.

Have a great weekend everybody! Meanwhile, there’ll be more outfit shots coming your way. πŸ˜‰
