In any case, here’s a casual outfit that I wore out on a Saturday, in an attempt to battle the scorching heat. My love for fierce heels never ends, does it?

On a happier note, you know the saying that the grass is greener on the other side? Well, they forgot to add that the skies are bluer as well. I was very attracted to the azure sky decorated with white puffy clouds. These photos are true to life, as I have absolutely no idea how to use Photoshop and other editing software besides some basic functions in Picasa. 😉

Last but not least, here’s the view from my hotel room at Sorak Daemyeung Resort. Skies are not as blue here as there was a slight fog.

We took a red-eye flight from Singapore to Korea. Upon arrival at Incheon Airport, we were whisked off to a restaurant for a quick lunch of traditional barbecued pork and the usual Korean side dishes.

This was where we took our only group shot as well, which was a pity because everyone in our tour group got along fabulously with one another.
I was amazed by my mum’s stamina. We managed to reach the top of the mountain rather effortlessly. The reward? A breathtaking view of the beautiful scenery.
I was told that on the other side of Mount Sorak lies another mountain range named Mount Geungang, a North Korean tourist attraction. A South Korean tourist was apparently shot dead in Mount Geungang in 2008 by North Korean guards after she accidentally ventured into a North Korean military zone. Despite its negative publicity, I still hope to visit North Korea some day. One of my friends who has done so had rave reviews!

The view on the way down was equally captivating. We stopped several times just to take photos! Here are two of my favourite shots:

This is another piece that I got from Korea. 😉 As you can probably tell as well, I can’t get my feet off those shoes!!

Although I’m pretty much stuck at home today, with a messy home to clean up afterward, I feel surprisingly relaxed. I feel pampered lying on my 600-thread count Egyptian cotton bedsheets with my KFC cheesy fries and root beer. A quiet respite from the bustle, that’s what this is.

Incidentally, I also found some pictures of myself from past events that I attended, namely the inaugural F1 night race in 08 and the World Gourmet Summit in 09. I cropped away the other people who were in the photos to protect their privacy. 🙂

What I also like about them is that their clothes are manufactured in-house in limited quantities to ensure exclusivity. No more worries about being caught dead in the same clothes as others when you’re walking down the busy streets of Orchard Road!

2) Lauren Crotchet Dress
I like dresses with crotchet lace and tulle hems as they make one look sweet and demure. This feminine number can either be worn as a tube dress or as a spaghetti strap dress depending on your preference. I wore mine as a tube dress paired with bright blue bra straps. Fierce heels add sass and personality to the combi too!

Incidentally, the movie Coco before Chanel will be screened at the end of this month. There has never been a better time to get yourself a tweed jacket, especially when it is all the rage during this fall/winter season!

I have 3 tweed jackets in different styles, one in white, one in white and black and one in black and grey. Here’s presenting my latest buy, the black and grey tweed jacket. It’ll also look great with a pencil skirt for work or jeans for the weekend!

I was originally planning to go to Taiwan with a couple of friends but it clashes with F1, which means I can’t go. Now, I’m thinking of going to Japan/Korea in early Sep or Oct, followed by Australia in Dec. Will probably have to make another trip to Japan in Nov for work again.

I used to think that travelling for work is fun, but so much travelling over the past couple of years has led me to think twice about this statement. Travelling is taking a toll on me. 🙁

Anyway, here’s an outfit post from one of the weekends. I’m pretty much into pink these days and fierce heels too. Do excuse the tired face..haven’t been sleeping very well these days.

I recently started taking an interest in reading MM Lee’s memoirs because as ashamed as I am to say this, I don’t think I know enough about Singapore and our nation-building efforts to truly call myself a Singaporean.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I am alone. Ironically, foreigners, some of whom we call friends and fans of Singapore, appear to have greater knowledge about our highly revered MM Lee, his contributions to Singapore and the process of how our nation attained our achievements today. Why do we always think that the pasture is greener on the other side when Singapore is where we belong?

I think a large proportion of us take many things that Singapore has given us for granted. The safe and secure environment, rigorous education system, transparent and stable political system, attraction of FDI, creation of good jobs and sustainable economic growth (albeit negative growth in this year’s context) are just some of the things that we take for granted.

What we fail to realize is that not many developed nations are able to provide two of the above-mentioned benefits to their people, much less all at the same time. Shouldn’t we be thankful for what we have?

After interacting with numerous foreigners who have relocated to Singapore and understanding their reasons for doing so inevitably made me realize how lucky we Singaporeans are.

On a brighter and less serious note, here’s my tribute to our National Day.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

The performance put up by my colleagues was so hilarious that I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage. The comic elements were further amplified by an unconventional heroine named 大娘惹 (acted by my guy friend).

大娘惹 sang the song Bangawan Solo (including bits and pieces about sharing her wonderful kueh lapis with her future husband) with so much soul that it drew guffaws from the audience. The dance moves and professional acting skills of my other colleagues were very commendable as well. It was akin to watching a musical by our local theatre talents.
