6 Fall 2016 Shoe Trends You can Wear In Singapore

August 25, 2016 by Regina Chow No Comments

It may be summer in Singapore all year round, but we can still get into the mood for fall without throwing on knee high boots and sweating buckets.

To help you along, here are some fall shoe trends we can actually wear on our sunny island:

  1. Suede Heels

Suede is one of the most coveted textures for fall. A pair of classic, nude heels in suede is your perfect companion this season, simply because it goes with anything and everything.

2. The 90s “V neck” Sling-back heels

The 90s trends have made a comeback. It’s time to stock up on these V neck sling-backs which will complement your work wardrobe.

3. Ankle Booties

Ankle booties are the best alternative to knee high boots in our climate. Get these to amp up your style factor this season.

4. Lace-up Platforms

The lace-up trend is here to stay. Reinterpreted with a 90s vibe and in suede no less, this pair is bound to be a head-turner.

5. Loafers

Loafers take you from work to play without compromising on comfort and style. You’ll be on point with this burgundy pair.

6. Metallic Flatforms

Combine atheleisure with the 90s trend and you’ll get flatforms. Plus, metallic shades are always a fall favourite.

7. Snakeskin Sandals

Sandals are a necessity in countries where the sun shines all year round. This is probably one of the bolder trends to try this season, but if you intend to up your sandals game, get a pair in snakeskin to stand out from the crowd.

*All shoes are from Aldo’s Fall 2016 Collection which are now out in stores.*

Wearing the Lace-up Trend with Forever New

August 11, 2016 by Regina Chow 1 Comment

I have to admit that I’m pretty late in the lace-up game. Call me a prude, but I just can’t see myself taking the plunge with lace-up tops that dip right down to your navel. Forever New must have read my mind because their version of the lace-up top reveals just a sliver of skin while keeping it classy.

What’s even more amazing is that you can actually pull this off for work if you’re in an industry that doesn’t require you to be suited up all day. Wear it with high-waist tailored pants like I did or pair it with a high-waist skirt to amp up the glam factor. It fits right in with my primarily minimalist wardrobe thanks to its clean lines and it can be dressed up or down (try wearing this with high waist shorts!) depending on the occasion. I’m all for wardrobe workhorses like this beautiful cropped lace-up piece which is now available at all Forever New stores in Singapore!

If you’re petite like me, you’ll be happy to know that this beauty comes in a UK size 4 too.  That’s what I love about Forever New. 😉

Top c/o Forever New// Pants from Love Bonito// Bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs // Shoes from Miu Miu

To keep the focus on the lace-up details, I kept the rest of the outfit simple with white pants and nude accessories.

You might recognize this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag from my Reebonz Marketplace Giveaway! It’s so easy to match and spacious enough to store all your necessities. If you like it, click here to join my giveaway which ends on 14th August!

Do you like this look? Have you tried the lace-up trend? If you haven’t, go on, give it a try!

Reebonz is a reputable luxury goods retailer that needs no introduction, but did you know besides brand new luxury goods, they have also recently established Reebonz Marketplace, a new platform that gives you access to independent multi-label boutiques, preowned luxury goods merchants and vintage dealers?

Good deals are not to be missed and at Reebonz Marketplace, you can be assured that you’ll get unique designer goods for less. Granted, most of them may not be brand new, but oldies are still goodies. Don’t you just love the indescribable thrill of uncovering a gem of that has since been discontinued or an exclusive vintage piece that adds character to your wardrobe?

It’s almost impossible to find a belt like this in Singapore, but thanks to Reebonz Marketplace, you can now literally scour the earth for precious gems through their preowned luxury store partners all over the world.

9. Gucci Shoulder Bag

We all know that Gucci has made a comeback and its classic embossed GG logo bags are totally having a moment right now. Remember what I said about some items being brand new? Case in point – this Gucci shoulder bag you see here which hails from The Luxury Corner, a multi-label luxury boutique in France. This brand new bag comes with a very pocket friendly price tag too.

10. Louis Vuitton Monogram Keepall Bandoliere

Finally, here’s the last item on my top 10 wish list! I enjoy traveling and I know I can get a lot of mileage (both literally and metaphorically speaking) from a hardy and durable carry-on luggage like this one from Louis Vuitton. This is perfect for short getaways and staycations too!

Styling Pantone Colours with People by People

August 1, 2016 by Regina Chow 1 Comment
Rose quartz is officially my favourite pantone colour and while my wardrobe is primarily made up of monochrome colours, I couldn’t resist injecting a pop of pink to welcome summer.  Today, I’ll show you two ways to style two rose quartz accessories, namely the Mini Martini bag and mirrored sunnies from popular Hong Kong designer label, People by People.

Launched in 2014, People by People was born out of an “Asian Dream” to create an Asian fashion accessory brand. It initially started off with sunglasses but they have since expanded their range of products to offer leather bags and accessories too. If you are a fan of Hong Kong drama series and movies (like me!), you may have already spotted many Hong Kong celebrities such as Louis Khoo, Myolie Wu, Linda Chung and Grace Chan wearing People by People’s range of sunglasses.

Colour Blocking with Pantone Colours

For those of you who are feeling adventurous, try colour-blocking with periwinkle, another popular Pantone shade. This casual minimalistic look was created with both comfort and style in mind. To make the colours stand out, stick to pieces with clean lines and sleek silhouettes.I love the Mini Martini bag in rose quartz. Made from quality cow leather, the workmanship is exquisite. You can also customize your bag with interchangeable letters and numbers in matching gold hardware depending on your mood every day. I call this my travel bag as I’ll change the letters on the go whenever I head to a different city. I’m currently in Nanjing again, which explains why the letters @NKG are on display at the moment.

White-on-white with a dash of Pantone Colours

An all-white palette provides a blank canvas to experiment with colours and textures, and adding a dash of rose quartz to a white-on-white ensemble is bound to turn heads in the most effortless way possible. Don’t you agree that the rose quartz bag and sunglasses add a touch of interest to this outfit?

Designed with Asian facial proportions in mind, People by People’s sunglasses sit comfortably on your nose bridge. In fact, this rose quartz pair with cool reflective lenses fits me to a T without any adjustments required. I’m sure you know how annoying it is when the frames slide off your nose and touch your cheeks, especially when you’re feeling hot and sticky in our humid weather.  Their sunglasses also come with polarized lenses to reduce the harmful effects of UV light and increase visual clarity.

I usually have to get my shades adjusted at the optical shop to fit my lower nose bridge and small face, which is why I was utterly impressed by this brand. With People by People, you’ll never have to worry about ill-fitting shades again. Fashion forward, functional and versatile, their sunglasses are just what I need to complete my wardrobe.
And you know what else is great about these reflective sunnies? You will always look on point, even without makeup. Plus, you can stare openly at passersby without getting caught! I had my share of fun people-watching at Nanjing’s popular Confucius Temple shopping district. 😉

***Exclusive Discount for My Readers***

Now here’s the good news – People by People ships internationally so you can don’t have to fly to Hong Kong to get your shopping fix!

Styling White & Rose Gold with Forever New & The Peach Box

July 15, 2016 by Regina Chow No Comments

Forever New is one of my favourite Australian fashion labels. Founded in late 2006 in Melbourne, Australia, it is one of the fastest growing Australian brands, with over 250 stores in ten countries worldwide. The epitome of femininity and style, I always find myself walking out of their shops with a dress or two. The brand draws its inspiration from global trends in art, film, music and theatre, as well as haute couture runway shows in Paris, Milan, London and New York.

I have more than a handful of dresses from Forever New because their flattering cut and classic designs will never go out of style. This time, I picked out an adorable lace romper from their summer 2016 collection. The intricate lace details caught my eye the minute I stepped into their Vivocity branch and it was then that I knew it had to be mine. I’m always on the lookout for brands with petite sizes (UK size 4/6) and what I love about Forever New’s apparel is that they fit my petite frame beautifully. Petite ladies, now you know where to head to!

I paired the romper with stunning rose gold accessories from The Peach Box, yet another Australian label that I have fallen in love with. Again, as with most Australian brands, the quality of these pieces is unrivalled and I see myself reaching for these timeless arm candies to up my style quotient day after day.

Check out their gorgeous accessories at http://www.thepeachbox.com and use my code “reginachow” for 15% off your purchases!

Happy shopping!

Channeling Song Hye Kyo’s Casual Chic Style in Descendants of the Sun

June 22, 2016 by Regina Chow No Comments
Effortlessly chic. That’s how I would describe Song Hye Kyo’s style in Descendants of the Sun. Her wardrobe staples include easy to wear pieces such as breezy shirts, light linen shorts, A-line skirts and casual t-shirt dresses. If you’re interested to find out more about the outfits, bags and accessories that the Korean star wore, you can check out my previous post here.
Perhaps I was subconsciously influenced by her style because when I threw on this minimalist jacket set, my hubby immediately exclaimed “That looks like something from Descendants of the Sun!”. I was in total disbelief till I looked in the mirror and even then, I still thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
So anyway, to cut a long story short, this confirms that while we may not look like Song Hye Kyo, we can certainly replicate her easy breezy summer style (and hopefully steal the heart of someone like Song Joong Ki)! The oversized BF jacket looks similar to what Song Hye Kyo wore when she first arrived in Uruk.  I am all for jacket
sets as you can break them up and wear each piece separately. Plus, the minimalist aesthetic ensures that you get plenty of mileage.
My only regret –  I wasn’t able to complete the look with the Singapore Air Show as my backdrop. Just kidding. Give me Nanjing’s Laomendong district any day. Not only does it look photogenic, you’ll also find quaint little shops and cafes at every turn. I had fun exploring and adding touches of modernity to the ancient Chinese architecture with this outfit.

Styling Pleats with Pleatation

June 15, 2016 by Regina Chow 1 Comment

Singapore brand Pleatation first caught my eye at Fashion Steps Out@Orchard in 2015. The gorgeous pleats and flowy silhouettes were hard to miss. Timeless, effortlessly chic yet gracefully feminine, what’s there not to love about this homegrown label?

This all-in-one dress is versatility personified. Dress it up with heels or dress it down with sandals or flats. Either way, you’ll be sure to draw stares wherever you go with that sexy backless design. Don’t even get me started on the variety of looks that you can create with just one dress. I counted, and wow you can actually get 10 amazing looks! Simply tie the strings in a different way and voila, a fresh new look is born. Take a look at the instructional video at the end for details.

Sounds like the perfect dress for traveling too, isn’t it? I packed this with me for a weekend trip to the city of Nanjing. Temperatures were soaring and I knew this silky number was just what I needed to paint the town red without breaking into a sweat. It worked like a charm and I had an amazing time flying the Singapore flag in a foreign land.

If you love pleats, you’ll be happy to know that besides dresses, Pleatation also specializes in pleated stationery, home and lifestyle products. Pleats are timeless in my opinion, and coincidentally, they happen to be a major trend this year too. So yes, don’t you think it’s about time to “compleat” your wardrobe with this lovely pleated dress?
In other news, I’ll be back in Singapore soon, so do drop me an e-mail for collaborations!

Fashion: Song Hye Kyo’s Style in “Descendants of the Sun”

April 29, 2016 by Regina Chow No Comments

After hearing all the hype about Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun”, I finally decided to hop onto the bandwagon along with an army of addicts, purely out of curiosity. Did I like it? Well yes, being a military wife, I definitely found the storyline relatable, but what left an even deeper impression on me was Song Hye Kyo’s (or Kang Mo Yeon, as she is known in the series) simple yet elegant style, which brings me to the objective of writing today’s post.
So yes, without further ado, let me share some of my favourite style/beauty moments in the series and more importantly, where you can actually find these products.

Beauty products

It is no secret that Song Hye Kyo is the brand ambassador for Laneige, hence the beauty products used to achieve her flawless skin and rosy lips include:
Laneige BB Cushion

I’ve used this previously courtesy of Laneige and I was impressed by how buildable the coverage is, not to mention the dewy finish causes light to literally bounce off my skin, making my pigmentation look less obvious to the naked eye.

Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar

I have yet to try this myself but if I recall correctly, these were already flying off the shelves before the show became popular. I hope you can still find them in stores!

Shirts & Shirtdresses

Shirts are practically her wardrobe staple and it is not hard to see why. Song Hye Kyo transits from weekend casual chic to smart casual/semi-formal with absolute ease simply by changing from a pair of shorts to a feminine A-line skirt or putting on a shirt dress. These basic pieces will never go out of style and thus ensure that she is always on point.

Bottom – Washing Linen Blouse from Stylenanda (Shop HERE)

Printed Silk Crepe Mini Dress by Victoria Beckham (Shop HERE)

Bags

Song Hye Kyo generally goes for minimalist, functional bags in the series, such as this beautiful Symmetrical Bag from Celine and the Eco Shoulder Bag from J.Estina, a Korean jewelry and bag label that she was endorsing till January this year.

J. Estina Savvy Helio Eco Shoulder Bag

Accessories

Accessories, especially earrings, play an important role in adding the finishing touches to her outfits. Simple, minimalist earrings are paired with casual outfits while a touch of gemstones are the perfect accompaniment to her work ensembles.

Earrings from J.Estina
J.Estina Oro Lia Helio Earring (Shop HERE)

Shoes

Comfortable
footwear is a must in the fictitious country of Uruk, and although this
statement about comfortable footwear isn’t entirely true (didn’t you see
her running around the disaster zone in platform heels?!), I’m sure this beautiful pair of
perforated high-top sneakers struck a chord with you, just as it did
for me, because it’s now completely sold out!

Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons Perforated Leather Sneakers

I
have left my email address in the link below and asked to be notified
when the item is back in stock. Good things ought to be shared, so I’m
sharing the link with you too!

Junya Watanabe Commes Des Garcons Perforated Leather Sneakers (Shop HERE)

Now that the long weekend is here, it’s the best time to indulge in some retail therapy! Have you watched the series yet? If so, which of these products do you like best?
