Laurent Bernard

March 24, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Laurent Bernard at Wessex Estate is one of my favourite joints for chilling out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Wessex Estate, to me, is one of Singapore’s best kept secrets. I like the tranquil surroundings and large fields dotted with preserved black and white colonial styled bungalows from the pre-WWII era.

Every time I head down to Wessex, I feel as though I’m talking a walk down memory lane, back to the days when Singapore was part of the British colony. The rustic, bohemian vibe provides the perfect atmosphere for a quiet afternoon, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Laurent Bernard, previously known as The Chocolate Factory, specialises in chocolates and desserts of impeccable quality. Its hot chocolate is the best I’ve tasted in Singapore and the chocolate souffle is beyond divine. Unfortunately, the chocolate souffle is only served on certain days at this particular outlet. Nonetheless, you can find the elusive souffle at Laurent Bernard’s other outlet at Robertson Quay as it is served there everyday.

Besides Laurent Bernard, I’m a big fan of Colbar as well, which used to be a canteen for the British troops based at Portsdown Road. More on that charming little cafe another time.

Here’s what I wore for a casual coffee date with the hubby.

Inner black tank: Dorothy Perkins (3 for $29!)
Bunny Print Tee: ClubCouture
Orange Jeans: Zara
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Here’s a close-up of the bunny print tee from ClubCouture. I love how the bunny resembles my favourite bunny fashionista, Fifi Lapin.

ClubCouture Photoshoot

March 15, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments

Remember I blogged about being a ClubCouture Ambassador for 2011?

Now here’s what you’ve all been waiting for – the behind the scenes photos of our photoshoot!

ClubCouture organized a photoshoot for all their ambassadors early this year. Thanks to ClubCouture for being so accommodating, I was fortunate to have been able to do this shoot together with my dear friend Jolene!

We arrived bright and early on a Sunday morning at the studio to have our make-up and hair done before the shoot. Within the blink of an eye and a touch of the make-up artist’s magic wand, we were instantly transformed into glamour girls.

And then, it was time for us to get down to work! Besides posing for my daily outfit shots and my blogshop, the last time I actually did a professional shoot was when I was part-timing during the summer holidays in school.

Imagine my trepidation when I was told to do high-fashion poses with various props! I could only look on in envy at some of the other ambassadors who posed effortlessly for the camera with such poise and finesse. Posing was practically second nature to them. Boy do I need to pick up some skills from the experts.

After some effort, here are my final shots:

Jolene and I paired up for this photo. Check out Jo’s toned, silky smooth legs!

My individual shots:

The Red Structured Halter Dress is a gorgeous bare-back cocktail dress that adds a delightful pop of colour to the sea of little black dresses at parties. It is, unfortunately, already sold out on ClubCouture.

Nonetheless, fret not, for this beauty comes in timeless black too.

My second outfit was a sexy bodycon black dress. It accentuates the female silhouette without compromising on style and is the perfect little black dress to hit the clubs!

Check out ClubCouture’s New Arrivals and their latest collection, City Lights!

There’s also a special discount exclusively for my lovely readers! Enter the code “REGINA2011” when you checkout to enjoy 15% off all purchases!

Time to go shopping!

TCC & Ribbons Galore

March 13, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
One of my favourite haunts for comfort food is TCC, especially its outlet at International Building. I love the outlet’s neo-classical decor, immaculate service and delicious food. The fact that the service staff are always attentive without being intrusive is absolutely commendable.

I also like the al fresco dining area here, which is an excellent spot for people-watching while enjoying the night breeze.

Here’s what I wore for a casual dinner at TCC.

It is no secret that I have a penchant for ribbons, so here you have it, an overdose of ribbons all over.

Top: Budget find at S$15 from Far East Plaza (FEP)

Ribbon Shorts: An old pair which I also got from FEP

Ribbon Wedges: Mitju (I’ve had this for years!)

Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (last season’s)

Fifi Lapin Necklace: Fayfey.livejournal.com

Floral Blues

March 8, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I’m a pastel blue convert. It is refreshing without coming across as being overly sweet, especially when other elements such as crotchet lace, floral prints and bows come into play.

Toga Top: Mango (a few seasons back)

Floral Shorts: Deye, Nex Mall

Shoes: Mondo

Hairband: Birthday gift from Jo & Karen

Pastel Palette

March 5, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
Chictopia has been my source of inspiration lately and I’ve been following some fashionistas for my daily dose of fashion. I’m currently hooked on to Mellow Mayoness. She coordinates colours (especially pastels) and prints so effortlessly it’s practically a breeze for her!

And now, here’s my take on pastels. I never thought that candy colours like pastel green and pastel pink would go well together.

I got the top from Far East Plaza eons ago and the skirt was a one-off piece from a Korean shop called The Dress at the second floor of Far East Plaza.

I paired the outfit with cute pastle green ribbon peeptoes from Mondo (which was a steal at only $23.90!), and my new vintage Aigner straw bag from Dustbunny Vintage.

Valentino Retrospective

February 17, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
Karen, Janice, Jolene and I met up one early Sunday morning to catch the Valentino Retrospective exhibition at RWS.

Valentino Retrospective is an exclusive exhibition of Valentino’s collections dating from 1959. What better way than to start the day with a spectacular display of exquisite gowns in timeless designs!

I love the design house’s use of feminine elements such as bows, lace and 3D embellishments to bring out the individual character of each gown without compromising on style. The details on each gown are so intricate that every piece is a treasured work of art!

Inspired by the beautiful gowns, we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for new clothes! Sometimes, a little retail therapy is all a girl needs after a long hectic week at work. Don’t you girls agree? 😛

We popped by Victoria’s Secret, followed by one of my favourite shops, Dustbunny Vintage. I have so many dresses from Dustbunny Vintage because there are so many unique, one-off pieces in this treasure trove that you’ll literally be spoilt for choice!

I was wearing a cute poufy dress from Dustbunny Vintage that day as well. I like the vibrant mesh of colours and the interesting use of tulle. It’s almost like a mini ballgown. 😉

For those of you who are interested, Dustbunny Vintage is located at:

Blk 112 Bukit Permei Road
#01-203

Now you girls can go uncover some gems!!

Night out with Stacie

February 11, 2011 by Regina Chow 5 Comments
I got to know Stacie a couple of years back when we were working in the same company and we hit it off almost immediately. We arranged to meet up recently for drinks, followed by dinner at Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken.

We haven’t met in a long time but like good old friends, we just picked up from where we left off. It was quite amazing because our conversation just flowed for hours on end while the food and drinks kept coming.

Time passed so quickly that within the blink of an eye, it was time for us to head back as all the shops were closed!

And finally, here’s my outfit for the day. A simple white eyelet dress with a light denim jacket.

Have a pleasant weekend ahead!

Seeing Red

February 6, 2011 by Regina Chow 6 Comments

I never used to like red, but I started taking a liking to the colour in recent years because it seems to complement my fair skin tone. It also adds a pop of colour to the rows of black dresses that hang in my wardrobe.

This particular dress, which I wore for the first day of CNY, caught my eye because of its origami inspired design and the cute embroidered sparrows sprinkled all over. It looks almost like a painting, don’t you think? The well cut silhouette accentuates the female form, making this the perfect alternative to a cheongsam.

Reunion Dinner at Dian Xiao Er

February 4, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Hey guys, are you still gorging on those CNY goodies? CNY is that time of the year when you can devour the most sinful snacks without feeling guilty, just because everyone else around you is doing it too! I’ve been eating so many chocolates, bak kwa and pineapple tarts that I can sense a sore throat coming my way!

Two days ago, I had my reunion dinner with my in-laws at Dian Xiao Er, one of my favourite mid-tier Chinese restaurants. In line with the festive cheer, I threw on a tangerine ruffled dress to partake in the season’s festivities!

If you ever head down to Dian Xiao Er, be sure to try the flavourful duck and crispy cod fish as these are highly raved dishes that you won’t want to miss.

Most of my girlfriends fear their in-laws, especially their MILs because of their supposedly nitpicking ways and unreasonable behaviour. I have to count my blessings because my in laws are some of the most understanding people in the world and I look up to them as role models in many ways.

Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter. — Brad Henry

I think this quote captures the essence of Chinese New Year. It is not only that time of the year for endless feasting, but it is also that time of the year when families come together as one to bask in the purity of family bliss, knowing deep inside our hearts that we are who we are today because of our family’s guidance and upbringing, and most importantly, that familial love will always stand the test of time.

Ruffles & Bows

January 27, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
I have a soft spot for bows and ruffles, which can be a little over the top sometimes if you’re not careful.

Here, I tried to strike a balance by pairing my pretty floral bow top (it’s a reversible top with a cat print behind!) with simple white ruffled shorts for running errands on a weekend.

Love it? Hate it? I’ll love to hear from you!
