Fashion Fridays: Pastels in Spring

February 6, 2015 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Temperatures are soaring and flowers are in full bloom to welcome the start of Spring. I’m just getting into the spirit of Spring with pastel hues as they gradually emerge from my wardrobe after months of hibernation due to my recent obsession with monochromatic shades.
What I love about pastel colours is that they generally complement one another without stealing the limelight from their counterparts, which makes colour blocking a breeze. The heydays of colour blocking may be over, but in my humble opinion, especially when it comes to soft pastel colours, this trend is here to stay.

Putting together an outfit with 3-4 bold primary colours could be a little too much (and gaudy) for some of us especially when it is no longer in trend to do so. Colour blocking with pastel colours on the other hand, is a different story altogether.

Take this outfit for example, where pink, mint and blue take center-stage. It is less in-your-face, less dramatic, but definitely more feminine and more wearable. This is my idea of the perfect outfit for Spring, against the backdrop of gorgeous blooms.

Bow headband from Liz Lisa
Bag from Hermes
Shoes from Pazzion
I love this flirty lace panel dress from ClubCouture and I personally think that this would be a great choice for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities.
The lace panels add an element of surprise and reveal just a sliver of skin without compromising decorum, which to me, is an essential aspect of the dress’s appeal.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend ahead! I’ll be sharing more of my fashion picks for Chinese New Year next week, so do stay tuned for more updates.

Fashion Fridays: Cobalt Blue x ClubCouture

October 24, 2014 by Regina Chow No Comments

Amidst the sea of black dresses in my work wardrobe lies a growing collection of cobalt blue dresses. To me, other than nude dresses (read my previous post here), cobalt blue is the next best alternative to black. The colour is strikingly beautiful and it really stands out from the crowd, but even then, it looks professional enough for work.
Honestly, I find it difficult to find another colour that fits the above criteria.
One of my latest cobalt blue dresses hails from ClubCouture. A design inspired by Three Floor, it is surprisingly well-made given its pocket-friendly price.

 Dress c/o ClubCouture
Shoes from Pazzion
Bag from Givenchy
Earrings from Chanel

I got mine in
UK size 4 and it fits me perfectly, which is a dream come true because Three Floor’s sizing tends to run a little larger and I would
usually have to get them altered to fit my petite frame.
I’ll be heading to Maldives this weekend but I’ve been ill for some time now. I’ve been coughing for weeks (hello sleepless nights) and I was just diagnosed with conjunctivitis earlier this week. Yes, bad things do come in threes – cough, sleepless nights and conjunctivitis.
The only positive thing that came out of this is that I have miraculously developed abs as a byproduct of prolonged coughing. Oh yes, every cloud has a silver lining. A flat and toned tummy is exactly what I need for a beach getaway.

Thankfully, my eyes seemed to have recovered and my cough subsided a little this morning, just as my excitement is building up. Now, let’s hope it stays this way so I can recover quickly.
More updates from Maldives soon!

Going Nautical with Midi Skirts

February 21, 2014 by Regina Chow 1 Comment

I wish I started my collection of midi skirts much earlier on. After all, there’s a feminine, vintage vibe about midi skirts that is right up my alley. They are also extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on what tickles your fancy.
I’ve always had a soft spot for tulle skirts, and this tulle midi skirt from ClubCouture is like a dream come true for me. In a delicious shade of cream, this airy fairy skirt looks like it came right out of a fairytale.

Top from Zara
Skirt from ClubCouture
Shoes from Miu Miu
Hair Accessory from Korea

For a casual weekend look, I decided to amp up the vintage vibes and went for a nautical themed ensemble with a comfy blue striped t-shirt and quirky pink accessories for added contrast.

This whimsical magazine clutch from MyJotterBook (sorry to disappoint you, but this is no longer for sale!) completed the look and served as an instant conversation starter.

JW takes all my outfit shots, and in this series of photos, he experimented with a new photography style, which resulted in a dreamier and more mysterious interpretation of my surroundings.

I can think of so many other ways to style this lovely midi skirt,
so if you are interested, do keep your eyes peeled for more outfit
posts that will be coming your way in this humble space of mine.
Meanwhile, have a good weekend ahead!

My Encounters with Lace

August 5, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

It has been a while since I last put up any fashion related posts , so I thought I’ll share two outfits today, both of which include lace.
Lace is one of my favourite fabrics and also a wardrobe staple for me. It exudes a classic, old world charm and a sense of femininity that no other fabric does.

When paired with other textures like beads and sequins in this case, lace adds dimension and an element of interest while taking a back seat, without overpowering the intricate details of the blouse.

Sequin Top from Ms Selfridge
Lace skorts from Bangkok
Nude glitter pumps from Miu Miu
Clutch from YSL
Hairclip from Japan

For an even more feminine look that can take you from day to night, full lace dresses never ever disappoint. The delicate fabric alone epitomizes elegance, sophistication and grace, characteristics that not many fabrics embody.

Shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo

Do you like lace too? Which outfit do you prefer?

The Beauty of Tiffany Blue Hues and Sweetheart Necklines

June 5, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments
Tiffany Blue is a shade of blue that is synonymous with a brand that every lady loves – Tiffany & Co., of course.

The trademark blue box in robin egg blue never fails to delight and brighten up anyone’s day.

Similarly, when a dress is made in the very shade that everyone adores, its allure and popularity soars. Instead of the typical black or jewel shade dresses, which are a dime and dozen at functions and dinner parties, why not go for an eye-catching tiffany blue dress, like this one from ClubCouture?

Tiffany Strapless Dress from ClubCouture
Clutch from Forever New
Accessories from Korea
Put a gorgeous Tiffany blue hue with a gorgeous Grecian style maxi dress, and there, you have the perfect dress to put you at the centre of attention.

The sweetheart neckline highlights the soft, gentle curves of the female silhouette as it gives the illusion that it is covering less when it is actually covering more.
Choosing the right accessories to complement the sweetheart neckline is of utmost importance as it can make or break the look. With a neckline like this, simplicity is the best policy and I would usually go without accessories.
But if you intend to amp up the glam factor for an evening function, I would suggest a simple drop necklace that draws attention to the beauty of the neckline in a subtle and elegant manner.
Alternatively, we could take a cue from the lovely Kate Hudson by giving the sweetheart necklace all the limelight and dressing up the ensemble with a pair of exquisite chandelier earrings instead.

  Which look do you prefer?
Regardless of your choice, anyone would be a stunner in a dress like this. πŸ™‚

Jardin de Fleurs Event at the Singapore Turf Club

February 12, 2013 by Regina Chow No Comments

A
couple of weekends ago, I was invited to the Singapore Turf Club’s Jardin de Fleurs event, organized by One9Ninety. Felicia happened to be
back in Singapore for her school holidays so I invited her along as my
plus one. She was my trusty lunch buddy back in Sydney and it was great
catching up with her again!

Dress: ClubCouture
Floral headband and vintage tapestry bag: Sydney Glebe Market
Shoes: Korean
As
the theme of the event suggests, all the ladies turned up in feminine
floral dresses while the men donned edgy floral shirts. There were so many eye candies around, it was quite a
sight to behold!
  What
was even more amazing was how the function room (Sage Room) was done
up. Every table was adorned with beautiful flower bouquets. Even the
walkway leading up to the room was sprinkled with flowers. Very
impressive indeed.

It was a feast not only for our eyes, but our stomachs too, as we indulged in a sumptuous buffet.
In fact, if you’re looking for a venue to host networking parties, team building or corporate events, the Singapore Turf Club might just be the perfect spot. The myriad of room choices are designed to accommodate different types of events and group sizes! Coupled with the adrenalin rush you’ll get from the races, the Singapore Turf Club certainly aims to please. πŸ˜‰

More details can be found here.
If you were wondering why we were looking on so intently, this is the reason:

I love watching the horses parade around the square in their best attire, although some may not be at their best behaviour. But I guess that’s all part of the fun, isn’t it?

I also had the opportunity to catch up with Jessie from the Singapore Turf Club! She’s the sweetest lady around and it’s always fun chatting with her. πŸ™‚
Before the afternoon came to an end, we wasted no time in maximising the use of the photo booth, which in my opinion, is a must-have at every event. We received the polaroid versions instantly and they make such lovely momentos!

The photos that you see here are the high res versions kindly provided by One9Ninety. πŸ™‚

 With Fel
 With Jessie
With Fel and new friend, Vikki

 Us and the Ninja Girls!

Us with Smith and Eunice from One9Ninety. πŸ™‚ They’re hilarious!
With the rest of the One9Ninety ladies!
Thank you so much for the invitation!

Celebrating Spring in Australia with ClubCouture

October 1, 2012 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I received the Gabrielle beaded dress from ClubCouture not too long ago and couldn’t wait to slip into this luxurious silk woven dress.

I
love the drop waist cut and intricate gem embellishments, which add a
touch of vintage 1920s flapper glamour. At the same time, this
lovely dress is unbelievably comfortable to wear as it is cut loose to
fit like a tunic. The design is so versatile, it’ll take you from casual
luncheons to formal dinner occasions.

It
may be autumn in all other countries, but the flourishing cherry
blossoms in my backyard must be a sign that Spring is here in Australia!
Now, who said that you have to travel all the way to Japan for cherry
blossoms?
After
what seemed like eternity, I can finally slather on sunblock and walk
out on the streets in sleeveless dresses and open-toe shoes. You know
how we Singaporeans always complain about the unbearable heat in
Singapore? Well, wait till you have to wrap yourself up in layers during
winter for several months when you’re overseas. I assure you you’ll
never complain about our sunny weather again!

Did I mention that this dress would be perfect as a beach cover-up too? It comes with a tube inner slip for modesty, but if you’re heading to the beach, do away with the slip and put on this dress with a black bikini underneath! That’s exactly what I’ll do for my next beach outing. πŸ˜‰

Shoes from Shooco Holic

ClubCouture has new arrivals ever so frequently, I’m always spoiled for choice. Here are some of the items that I really like:

 Clubcouture set

(From Top to Bottom)
1) Blake Pink Leather Bag
2) Silk Floral Jumpsuit
3) Gem Pendant Gold & Vintage Rose
4) Kiss Me Platform Peep Toe Court Shoes

Clubcouture set 2

(From Top to Bottom)

1) Nikki Spiked Necklace
2) Wild Dreams Dress
3) Miami Brown Leather Handbag
4) Fancy Me Leather Lace-up Boots
Time to go shopping to chase away those Monday blues! πŸ™‚

Bohemian White

August 27, 2012 by Regina Chow 3 Comments

I know this space of mine has been rather quiet recently and I am so sorry for the lack of updates. Karen came over to Sydney during the recent Hari Raya weekend and we were too busy having a ball of a time. She came all the way to lend me support in some family matters.

Sushi was supposed to come over too but she eventually couldn’t as there was no one around to look after precious Leo. Nonetheless, she was always around to provide a listening ear. Both of them have made a significant difference to almost every aspect of my life (including my wardrobe) and I am truly blessed to have them in my life!

My sweetest friends know that vanity is perhaps my greatest downfall, hence they brought over some clothes and shoes to tide me through the seasons.

In this post, I wore a Liz Lisa dress given to me by Karen. It’s thick and warm, perfect for the current weather. The best part is, I can wear this out on its own without having to put on a coat or add on layers.

I had some time before leaving my apartment that day, so I decided on a fancier hairdo in an attempt to achieve the boho chic look. I did a hair twist with my fringe, pinned it to the side and added a thin french braid on each side to complete the look.

The floral headband from ClubCouture was the icing on the cake. It is so delicate and feminine, I absolutely couldn’t resist putting it on.Link

I like the recent batch of accessories brought in by ClubCouture. One of them is the flutter ring in pink, which goes really well with this ensemble.

The dress also comes with a detachable bow that can be either pinned to the front or the back. I chose the back this time as I wanted to keep the look simple.

I met my aunt for dinner at Marigold that day and she commented that I looked like Pocahontas. LOL.

Hm..I guess there is some resemblance after all, especially the hair.

I’ll be back with more updates soon, but meanwhile, have a great week ahead!!
