Colour Blocking

July 1, 2011 by Regina Chow No Comments
Green reversible slouch top from Platinum Mall (Bangkok)

Faux pink collar from Jatuchak Market (Bangkok)

Candy tiered skirt from H&M (Hong Kong)

Candy striped shoes from Schuu, Ion Orchard (Singapore)

Gold Hobo Bag from Gucci

Colour blocking is the only way to wear bright candy colours this season. If clashing primary colours like red and blue are too much for you, try matching them with their subtler counterparts, pastels.

Here, I decided to pair green with orange and large doses of pastel pink to neutralize the brightness of the colour palette and yet preserve the essence of colour blocking.

This was the very outfit that I wore to the “Style: It Wild” event at Shanghai Dolly that Karen invited me to. Karen was in a lovely corset that was befitting for the event, which was meant to be a showcase for several lingerie labels. It was a pity I didn’t know beforehand that it was a lingerie show, for I would’ve turned up in one of my corsets too!

We were featured on Lifestyleasia.com too. 🙂 Many thanks to the lovely photographer!

The gorgeous models clad in alluring lingerie dazzled the crowd. It was a feast for our eyes. Not only were the men captivated, even the ladies among the audience were awed by the beauties on stage.

Here’re some of my favourite pieces from Rondavous’s showcase. We were amazed that their lingerie exudes class and sophistication, traits that are sorely lacking in other lingerie labels today. The label’s lingerie are bold and sensual, without compromising on style, femininity and versatility. Talking about versatility, many of the ladies present wore lingerie from Rondavouz as tops, paired with jeans or pants!

For those of you who are interested, Rondavous is located at:
#01-03 Far East Plaza
14 Scotts Road

Meanwhile, do check out their website: http://www.rondavouslingerie.com and facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/Rondavous.

Monochromatic Colours

June 23, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I love colours and the recent colour blocking trend has got me all excited. But on days when I feel lazy, pairing black with white always works, which is why I have an ineffable penchant for monochromatic colours too.

H&M zebra print bandage skirt

Transparent Heels from Far East Plaza

I am already on the plane to Bangkok as you are reading this! I’ll be there till early next week. 🙂

Feathery Neutrals

June 20, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
The understated elegance and versatility of neutral shades should never be undermined. Besides black, neutral shades are the only other colours that add a touch of sophistication and finesse to your wardrobe effortlessly.

Forever 21 applique top

Tiered skirt from Fa Yuen Street, Hong Kong

Transparent Heels with leopard print soles from Far East Plaza

I got this ethereal feathery skirt from Fa Yuen Street in Hong Kong during my recent trip but I never found the opportunity to wear it till recently. Gorgeous isn’t it?

My love for neutrals doesn’t just stop there. I finally got my hands on the highly coveted Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette which I’ve been waiting for since Christmas!

Rocker Chic

June 19, 2011 by Regina Chow 6 Comments
I tend to swing to extremes when it comes to experimenting with fashion. You’ll catch me in a feminine, flouncy dress one day but the next day, you may see me in a drastically different look, what with ripped jeans, gladiators and all. That’s probably my alter ego breaking loose. Haha..

Ripped Jeans from Argyle Centre, Hong Kong

Open-toed ankle boots

All about Lace

June 5, 2011 by Regina Chow 6 Comments
Lace used to be the delicate fabric of high society and the wealth of aristocrats was measured by the amount of lace they owned. Fortunately, times have changed. Now, lace never fails to make its appearance on the runway every season. The epitome of femininity and grace, lace has never gone out of style and will always be ubiquitous in the world of fashion.

I discovered this exquisite lace top during my trip to Hong Kong and I knew I had to share this with you the moment I set my eyes on it. To ensure exclusivity, I bought just one extra piece for sale.

Price: S$29.90 SOLD
(Email regina.chow@gmail.com to purchase this)

This top doesn’t come with an inner camisole, but you can always pair this with a bandeau top. Alternatively, this would also serve as a beautiful beach cover up.

Hope you enjoyed this sale post. 🙂 Have a good week ahead!

High Collared Ruffles

June 2, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
I’ve recently taken a liking to high collared dresses like the one pictured here because of how well they seem to complement bob hairstyles. I was completely bowled over by the cascading ruffles framing the otherwise plain and rather severe collar. The translucent chiffon sleeves also add a touch of allure and mystery without compromising propriety. This is one dress that had me falling head over heels in love.

Tweed for Work

June 1, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
I don’t have many photos of my work outfits because I hardly experiment with fashion trends at work and I’m always exhausted by the time I return home. That being said, I shall give you a sneak peek into my wardrobe today as many readers have been asking me about my work attire.
I generally favour tailored silhouettes, textured tweeds and subdued colours for work to portray a professional image. Unlike my casual outfits, my work wardrobe colour palette is made up of just 5 colours – Black, White, Grey, Beige and Blue.

Looking professional at work is my utmost priority, which is why I like classic, well-structured pieces with subtle details. Here’s one of my favourite work dresses (Please excuse my tired face):

Tweed Dress from River Island
Black Suede Pumps from Ferragamo
Bag from Loewe
Earrings from Chanel

Close-up of the details on my dress:

Link Tweed is one of my favourite fabrics because of its luxurious appearance. I also like how it adds bulk to my petite frame. There are actually bits of glitter sprinkled all over the tweed material but unfortunately, my camera couldn’t capture it.

Close-up of my earrings:

Gold and pearl accessories add the finishing touch to my work outfits. To me, an outfit is never complete without accessories, especially earrings.

Shalom’s Arrival

May 31, 2011 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
27th May 2011 marked the birth of Shalom, my dear friend Grace’s daughter! This bundle of joy is also my goddaughter. Congratulations to Grace, Jay and I! I’m finally a mummy too!
Shalom takes after her mummy as she has the heartiest laugh and loudest screams that can be heard from afar. She sure has strong lungs despite her tender age.

Baby Shalom has doting parents who shower her with undivided attention and love. I was at the hospital on both days and I can attest to the fact that being a parent is really no mean feat because babies can cry for no rhyme or reason, rendering you helpless at times.

Thankfully, like her mummy, Shalom seems to enjoy R&B music, so all you need to do is rap to get into her good books! Yo, yo, check it out! She’ll probably feel right at home at Butter Factory. 😉

I popped by town for a quick bite and some shopping after visiting Grace and Shalom at the hospital. And as usual, I’ll be ending this post with my outfit for the day:

Grey Slouchy Tee from Cotton On

Tutu Skirt from Lipsy

Pearl Necklace from Chanel

Bag from Prada

Boots from Bugis Village

Beauty in Black vs Beauty in Colour Blocking

May 11, 2011 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
Beauty in Black is an exhibition of 18 black dresses from the 1950s to 2000s. Held at the National Museum, this exhibition showcases dresses by renowned designers such as Cristóbal Balenciaga, Pierre Cardin, Karl Lagerfeld and Azzedine Alaïa. The colour black is the highlight of this exhibition, as these 18 dresses take us on a journey through time to experience the colour black’s meteoric rise to iconic status.

My favourite dress in this collection is the guitar dress designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chloe (bottom left in collage). The ingenuity of the design lies in the creative sequin guitar motif behind, which ties in seamlessly with the halter neck design of the dress, giving the otherwise simple black dress a whimsical twist.

Now that Spring is here, together with rising temperatures on our sunny island, black may not be an ideal choice for the outdoors. Don’t get me wrong. I do like the elegance of black and how a well-cut little black dress instantly adds glamour, but sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to play around with colours. 😉

Here’s my second take on colour blocking:

Details:

Zara Striped Top

H&M Tiered Skirt (from Hong Kong)

Yellow Patent Ribbon Bag (from Argyle Centre in Hong Kong)

Chocolate Schubar candy coloured sandals
