Bohemian White

August 27, 2012 by Regina Chow 3 Comments

I know this space of mine has been rather quiet recently and I am so sorry for the lack of updates. Karen came over to Sydney during the recent Hari Raya weekend and we were too busy having a ball of a time. She came all the way to lend me support in some family matters.

Sushi was supposed to come over too but she eventually couldn’t as there was no one around to look after precious Leo. Nonetheless, she was always around to provide a listening ear. Both of them have made a significant difference to almost every aspect of my life (including my wardrobe) and I am truly blessed to have them in my life!

My sweetest friends know that vanity is perhaps my greatest downfall, hence they brought over some clothes and shoes to tide me through the seasons.

In this post, I wore a Liz Lisa dress given to me by Karen. It’s thick and warm, perfect for the current weather. The best part is, I can wear this out on its own without having to put on a coat or add on layers.

I had some time before leaving my apartment that day, so I decided on a fancier hairdo in an attempt to achieve the boho chic look. I did a hair twist with my fringe, pinned it to the side and added a thin french braid on each side to complete the look.

The floral headband from ClubCouture was the icing on the cake. It is so delicate and feminine, I absolutely couldn’t resist putting it on.Link

I like the recent batch of accessories brought in by ClubCouture. One of them is the flutter ring in pink, which goes really well with this ensemble.

The dress also comes with a detachable bow that can be either pinned to the front or the back. I chose the back this time as I wanted to keep the look simple.

I met my aunt for dinner at Marigold that day and she commented that I looked like Pocahontas. LOL.

Hm..I guess there is some resemblance after all, especially the hair.

I’ll be back with more updates soon, but meanwhile, have a great week ahead!!

ClubCouture: Philippa Dress

August 22, 2012 by Regina Chow No Comments

I received the Philippa Dress in pink from ClubCouture recently. Spring is just around the corner in Sydney and temperatures have been on the rise recently, so this pretty little number came just in time!

It was still slightly chilly when I wore this tube dress out (thanks to the strong winds) so I decided to pair it with my trusty Zara blazer. The look that I came up with is more formal and work appropriate, but if you’re going for a more casual, weekend look, just wear the dress on its own or match it with a cute little cardigan and you’ll be all ready for tea with the girls.

To complete the look, I added on floral accessories in similar shades. The ring is from Forever21 and the necklace is from Accessorize.

I especially adore how the dress eventually graduates into a charming floral skirt. The contrast between the pink cotton bodice and chiffon floral material further enhances the femininity of the design.

The Philippa dress comes in white too!

Check out the new arrivals at ClubCouture now. πŸ™‚

Parks & Swings

August 10, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
There is something special about parks that draws me to them. The luscious greenery and blossoming flowers, coupled with azure blue skies and the sound of birds chirping, provide a tranquil environment for chilling out after a long day.

When a park comes equipped with swings, it’s even better. The adrenalin rush from swinging your legs in the air never fails to put a smile on anyone’s face and always seems to be the panacea for all worries and troubles. Spending a day in the park always makes me feel happier!

Now, let’s move on to my outfit for the day. Other than pastels, I’ve always loved neutral shades for their versatility. These colours exude a quiet elegance and femininity without being over the top. The muted shades also mean that the more focus is placed on the design and texture of the material used.

Tweed Jacket from Great World City

Here’s wishing everyone a great weekend ahead!

Powder Pink and Rosettes

August 1, 2012 by Regina Chow No Comments
Pastel and neon hues are the most trendy colours this season. Unlike neon, which is best worn as an accent colour (or you’ll risk being an eyesore literally), I like how pastels can be worn from head to toe.

If you’re interested, click on the posts below to see how I’ve worn pastels previously:

Sorbet Colours

Floral Denim

Colour Blocking with Pastel and Candy Colours

In this post, my top and jeans are in the sweetest shades of pastel pink, but I also decided to add a dash of nude hues to balance out the colour tones as well as to ensure that I don’t end up looking like pink panther!

Hat from Forever New
Pastel pink jeans from Mango
Korean pink sweater from Yuan, Far East Plaza
Rosette jacket from Hong Kong
Accessories from Chanel and Diva
Idylle Speedy from Louis Vuitton

You’ve probably seen most of the items in this outfit, largely because my luggage space was limited and I honestly don’t own that many long sleeve tops and jeans to ride out winter. It is quite a challenge to rework the same pieces to create different looks, but I must say it is pretty fun too.

The only new item that I’ve incorporated in this ensemble is my rosette jacket which I bought from Hong Kong last October, but never found the opportunity to wear it in Singapore’s humid weather.

I like how the chiffon polyester material and pop-up rosettes add interest as well as a touch of vintage girly glamour to the outfit.

Hope you like this outfit as much as I do!

Sorbet Colours

July 22, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

Don’t you love sorbet colours? I’ve always loved these sweet pastel hues and I’m sure it doesn’t come as a surprise to many that my wardrobe was filled with apparel in feminine candy shades long before they became such a huge fashion trend today.

In the past, you’ll only find tulle skirts or poufy girly dresses in pastel colours, but thanks to the current trend now, I can easily find basic tops, jackets and jeans in the same colours too!

If this diabetes-inducing palette is a tad too sugary sweet for your liking, you can always par down the sweetness and go for a more clean-cut style by matching a basic top with jeans and a crisp jacket before topping it off with a dose of playful accessories. I like this look because I can choose to wear it to office on dress-down Fridays or just a casual day out with friends!

The sharp, tailored silhouette of this mint green blazer from Zara caught my attention instantly. It’s one of my favourite blazers now because it goes with virtually everything in my wardrobe.

Mint green blazer from Zara
Pink jeans from Mango
Baby blue sweater from Cocolatte
Necklace and arm candies from Diva
Earrings from Chanel

I got this pair of pastel pink jeans from Mango while shopping with my mum. I wasn’t sure if I should get it then, but my mum convinced me that it was a great buy. Looks like mum certainly knows best!

It has been a while since I last shopped with my mum, so I’m really looking forward to our next shopping spree when I get back to Singapore. πŸ˜‰

Here’re my favourite accessories at the moment. I know, even I am sick of seeing them on my blog. Haha.

Finally, Chanel studs, otherwise known as every woman’s best friend, simply because they go with just about everything.

Have a great week ahead guys!

Composure and Composition

July 19, 2012 by Regina Chow No Comments
I love the final set of photos taken by KC from Tinydot Photography (Click here for the Facebook page). The mood of these photos evoke a calm, contemplative vibe, which is very reflective of my personality.

It’s incredible how KC has the ability to not just frame a picture, but also capture your personality and emotions on film with such impeccable ease. That’s the trademark of a seasoned photographer with an acute sense of what makes a picture perfect while keeping it real.

Everyone, even the people closest to me, has the impression that nothing can rock my boat because I tend to be calm and composed, even in the most dire of situations. I guess that’s because my head usually rules my heart and when the worst happens, my immediate reaction is to rationalize and think about how to mitigate the negative factors.

If that doesn’t work, it always helps to have a positive attitude, and for this, I have JW to credit because he’s always full of positive energy and appreciative of the little things in life.

I always believe that life is too short to sweat the small stuff, so I try my best not to agonize over something that cannot be changed. That’s the easiest way to stay happy! πŸ™‚

Cammeray & Dee Why Beach

July 17, 2012 by Regina Chow No Comments

I have said this umpteen times, but I really enjoy feasting in Sydney because the ingredients are as fresh as you can possibly get (especially seafood).

The plan for the day was to head to the beach and soak in the lovely sun, but before that, we swang by People Modern Cafe at Cammeray to fill our tummies with sumptuous teriyaki salmon. I wrote about this cafe previously when my aunt first brought us there. You can click here to read the post if you’re interested.

LOL doesn’t JW look like he wants to devour my share as well?

Before long, it was time to work off our lunch by taking a stroll along the beach. Sydney is famous for its numerous beaches, but thus far, I’ve only been to Manly and Bondi, which are the most touristy of them all.

This time, we decided to venture to Dee Why Beach instead.

The weather has been holding up pretty well these days and I don’t even have to wear a coat in the day! Erm, but I was a little overdressed for the beach as vanity got the better of me.

I bought this lace dress from Kitson in Tokyo a while back, but I haven’t worn it very much as it can be a tad too warm for our weather in Singapore. I adore it to bits though and I especially like the see-through lace sleeves.

My new pastel skull necklace from Diva. Diva has the most amazing accessories this season, and the best part is, they come in the prettiest pastel shades!

Most of my outfit shots are taken by JW, who just assumed the role of my photographer despite not having much of an interest in photography. To give credit to his fab skills, I got behind the camera this time and took his outfit shot for him! Haha. He’s quite a natural at posing, isn’t he?

I love that Dee Why Beach is less crowded and commercialized than Bondi and Manly. It’s also much quieter and more family oriented as we spotted some families bonding over sea sports and just basking in the welcoming warmth of the sun.

It didn’t take long before hunger pangs set in, so off we went in search of food. Yums! The potato wedges came with the most delicious sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. We literally gobbled up the whole bowl in record time.

I wasn’t kidding when I told you feasting is one of our favourite pastimes. Look how happy JW is!

Greys, Golds and Pastels

July 16, 2012 by Regina Chow 3 Comments

I know I haven’t been posting as regularly as I used to, thus I certainly endeavour to post more now that I’m back in Sydney! The weather has been getting warmer when it’s supposed to be the peak of winter, but I’m not complaining as it gives me more reason to dress up. πŸ˜‰

On days when I’m lazy to dress up, however, this would be my go-to outfit.

I love my reversible fur jacket, which has served me well for about 3 years now and those ripped jeans were a steal at just 10 bucks from Hong Kong’s Argyle Centre. But, the highlight of this outfit, to me at least, is my footwear.

When I was back in Singapore recently, I fell head over heels in love with this pair of flats at Scape flea market. The mesh front and gold cuffs lend a touch of edginess without compromising on style. It was love at first sight.

I gotta show you my favourite arm candies too! I got the mint spiked bracelet and pastel pink bracelet from Diva in Sydney. I’ve a huge soft spot for pastels so you’ll spot me wearing these practically everyday. πŸ˜›

Some shots at home, without my fur jacket.

On a separate note, I’ve been wondering if I should perm my hair now that it’s significantly longer, but most of my friends seem to prefer it straight.

I guess I’ll keep it as it is for a while more before I decide. What do you think?

Have a great week ahead!!

DOT Wonderlace Paddlepop

July 10, 2012 by Regina Chow No Comments
It’s so difficult to find basic tops with subtle details that add interest without compromising on simplicity. Such tops are the easiest to pair with floral shorts, patterned pants or well, just about anything in your wardrobe, which explains why I was ecstatic when I received the lovely Wonderlace Paddlepop top in Sunshine yellow from DOT!

I love the unique cut-out neckline and how the cutting of the top reveals just a hint of flesh in the most alluring and elegant manner.

I matched the yellow top from DOT with colourful floral shorts, a gold sling bag, nude pumps from Zara and some accessories. It can be worn either tucked in or out, which makes it so very versatile!

I love how DOT offers sophisticated, versatile and feminine apparel at pocket-friendly prices. Take this top for instance. It’s likely to be worn again and again as there are countless ways to work this top to create a variety of looks!

Check out the back of the top! The beauty of the back lies in the cross-back neckline and triangular cut-out.

Did I also mention that the neckline is made of lace while the rest of the top is made of quality chiffon material. The contrasting textures complement each other in a way that is flattering yet understated at the same time.

The best part about simple tops? You can always add on accessories for a completely different look! There’s so much that this top offers and I am pretty certain that this will be one of my wardrobe staples!

This top comes in many other colours and will be launched tomorrow!

Head on down to DOT for more fabulous designs!

Sugar Lips

June 30, 2012 by Regina Chow 4 Comments
I’ve been on the lookout for aztec pants for some time now, so you can imagine how happy I was to receive this pair of Cheyenne Aztec Pants, courtesy of Sugar Lips!

Sugar Lips is a California-based online fashion store that manufactures some of the trendiest outfits at pocket-friendly prices. Their products can also be found at major department stores such as Macy’s and Nordstrom’s Dillard’s.

Check them out for more great finds and fashion inspirations!

They are also one of the few online stores that have extensive collaborations with bloggers. Naturally, I was thrilled to be invited to be part of their bloggers affiliate programme!

This set of photos are completely unedited. They were taken at Watson’s Bay, an eastern suburb near Double Bay, where you’ll be treated to breath-taking paranomic views of the coastlines.

I’ll post the scenery photos separately soon. πŸ˜‰

Cheyenne Aztec Pants from Sugar Lips
Metallic silver sweater
Navy fur coat from Zara
Silver pumps from Rubi
Detachable collar from Eternity Loft
Sunglasses from Glebe Markets
Idylle Speedy from Louis Vuitton

I’m currently back in Singapore for work and I foresee that I’ll be crazily busy the next 2 weeks before I head back to Sydney again for some peace and quiet. I hope I’ll have time to meet up with friends before I take off again!

Time to get my engines cranking! Meanwhile, enjoy your weekend guys!
