Featured: Style Spotting by Clozette at Desti Saint Collection Launch

April 24, 2012 by Regina Chow 1 Comment

Karen invited Eunice and I to the Desti Saint Bag Collection Launch organized by Faz last week. We were treated to a buffet of gorgeous bags, which I will share more about in a separate post. We were also featured on Clozette, a wonderful online platform where you can share your style, organize your online wardrobe, socialize with like-minded Clozette beauties and shop for eclectic fashion finds all around the globe! Thanks Clozette!
I wore a BCBG silk lace dress, paired with pale pink peep-toe Ferragamos, Hermes H bangle. πŸ™‚

Here’s Karen’s outfit. I love her Olive (yes, Popeye’s girlfriend) cartoon print dress and its chirpy turquoise colour. Super love her Celine snake skin bag too!

Finally, here’s Eunice’s outfit. Eunice was wearing one of her hand-made necklaces and I couldn’t stop gushing about how beautiful it was! For more exclusive jewellery lovingly handcrafted by Eunice, you may want to check out her site at EuniqYou.

Gown Fitting with Grace

April 23, 2012 by Regina Chow 3 Comments
Grace is one of my closest friends and she’s preparing for her customary wedding this October! As we all know, wedding preparations can be a tedious affair in Asian society. Booking the bridal studio, selecting the gowns, photography, venue, jewellery, bridal make-up and hairstyle…there are so many decisions to make, but so little time.
We spent a couple of hours at the bridal studio selecting the gowns for her photoshoot and actual day. I’m not about to show you which gowns Grace chose for her AD, but here you’ll get a glimpse of a gorgeous Valentino-inspired gown with cascading rosettes, which is what she’ll be wearing for the photoshoot.  We also went a little crazy camwhoring, forcing her hubby, Jay, to take photos of us in cutesy Japanese poses reminiscent of what we did when we travelled to Japan in 2009 (ooo such lovely memories!). It’s been such a long time since we last travelled together, but she has so many commitments now, it’ll take a while before we can just take off and head overseas again!
My sweet friend treated me to a sumptuous Korean dinner thereafter at Kko Kko Nara, a popular Korean joint along Tanjong Pagar Road. The chicken wings platter (top right corner) took the cake for me. The chicken wings were marinated in 3-4 different sauces, and every single on of them tasted ridiculously good!  I liked the chicken stew as well, which tasted like kim chi (I love kim chi!). It’s slightly pricey but trust me, you have to try the chicken wings here. You’ll be hooked, for sure, just like all of us!

Emeco 111 Navy Chair

April 20, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

We just received our new set of dining chairs, thanks to the previous lot of PU leather chairs that couldn’t stop shedding. Our floor was littered with black strips of leather and we constantly had to clean up after the chairs as they shed whenever we sat on them.  It was a sorry sight!
So, this time, we decided we had to get dining chairs that will never ever shed in their lifetime. As we were window-shopping at Space Furniture, we came across the Emeco 111 Navy Chair from Space, which really saved the day!
I actually blogged about our choice of chairs much earlier in December, and you can read about that here. It’s amazing how long we’ve waited for our chairs to arrive. It took a good 4 months!

Besides the matte grey finish which I dearly love, the ergonomic seat rest is another reason why we were drawn to this baby. It’s made of 111 plastic bottles, hence its name, but don’t let that deter you because it looks and feels nothing like plastic! In fact, it looks just like aluminum.

And here they are, in their full glory.
Why do I have a thing for plastic furniture, you may ask?  My mum asks me that question all the time too and my answer to her is always the same – they’re too beautiful to resist and they’re just as durable, if not more so, than most furniture in the market!

High Tea at TWG

April 19, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

I first visited TWG for high tea long ago in 2009, way before they expanded and set up branches around our sunny island. I remembered the tea to be very smooth and fragrant. It impressed me so much that I proceeded to buy them as gifts for friends. On the other hand, the food was a little overpriced, but I loved the scones that came with little pots of tea jelly and whipped cream.
You wouldn’t believe it, but I only revisited TWG for high tea again last Saturday, with two girlfriends in tow. Jun was supposed to join us, but she was so busy running errands, she had no time for us. πŸ™

We ordered the Imperial set and Royal set from the Chic tea time menu. The sandwiches and scones tasted lovely as usual, but at $32 per set, the portions were rather miserable. The location is also less than ideal for those who avoid the sun like the plague (i.e. me) as the sun rays streaming in from the glass ceiling made me feel extremely weary! I know, I can be such a difficult customer.
We were initially contemplating trying out the buffet at Rise, which is located at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel lobby, but it was such a long walk and hunger got the better of us. All of us agreed that we should give Rise a go next time, because for the same price, we’ll get to enjoy a buffet spread and eat to our hearts’ and stomachs’ content!

Spring Pastels: Club Couture Vera Pastel Dress

April 17, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
The ubiquitous influence of pastel colours has taken everyone by storm this season. I’m head over heels in love with the prettiest shades of mint, light pink, light yellow and baby blue.

It’s easy to see why I was so taken by Club Couture’s Vera Pastel Dress . The shade of pastel pink evokes a soft, dreamy, vintage vibe while the asymmetrical hem adds a touch of edginess and spunk, making the dress even more unique than it already is.

The wind was in my favour when I took this set of photos, without which we wouldn’t have been able to capture the dramatic effect of the chiffon skirt fluttering in the wind. Seriously, what’s there not to love about this dress?

Latest Addition in the Accessory Drawer

April 16, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

I’ve been trying to resist the H bangle for a while, but obviously all efforts to do so proved futile. Lady luck must be shining on me though, because the ever so thoughtful hubby decided to get it as a present. Of course, much of the credit goes to Karen, who brought this lovely bangle all the way back from Paris.

Under normal circumstances, I would have gone for black or orange just because I love the contrast, but the rational side of me thought that I should go for a neutral colour that goes well with practically everything in my wardrobe. πŸ™‚

Weekend Brunch at Forty Hands

April 12, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments
I’ve been busy with work ever since I got back, but I’ll try to catch up with friends and family whenever time permits. Last Saturday, Hui, Jacq, Wei, Raf and I met up at Forty Hands for brunch. We’ve been friends for close to a decade now and I’m so glad that we all make the effort to spend time together, even if it’s just for a meal or a spot of shopping.

I suggested meeting at Forty Hands because I’m infatuated with the wonderfully soft tau sa pao (red bean bun). This time, we tried out their breakfast set and desserts too. The eggs benedict and salmon hash are very delicious. The desserts are great too! No wonder the cafe is always filled to the brim!

After our heavy meal, it was only prudent to walk off all the fats and aid digestion by going shopping at Far East Plaza. I went crazy shopping, bagging 3 hairbands, a lace dress, an asymmetrical skirt, 2 belts and a pair of shoes. Here I am adding more things to my wardrobe when it is already bursting at its seams. How incorrigible!

In other news, I’m totally loving the lace trend this season! Here, I paired a really affordable lace top from City Plaza with a lace cut-out poufy skirt from Siam Square, Bangkok. I also went a little wild and added splashes of colour to the all-white palette. πŸ˜‰

Towards the end of our shopping spree, Hui and I got distracted by memories of Nanbantei and their tasty grilled cod fish. We wanted to make a reservation at a later time, but the restaurant was fully booked and they could only hold the seats for the next 45 minutes. The glutton in us manifested and we ended up abandoning Jacq and Wei (Raf left earlier to attend a function) for our cod fish!

The two ladies (who were leaving for their next appointment anway) couldn’t believe they lost out to a fish!

Haha Oops. I’m sorry…we’ll go there together one day ok? I’m sure you will understand why we did what we did after you try it. πŸ˜›

ClubCouture: Pleated Skirts

April 10, 2012 by Regina Chow 2 Comments

The moment I saw this black pleated skirt on ClubCouture, I knew I had to get it, simply because it is so difficult to find black pleated skirts with good workmanship at reasonable prices.

Quality pleated skirts are usually slightly heavy with evenly distributed pleats of uniform thickness. Unlike the usual cheap flimsy elastic band around the waist, this skirt also comes with a thick, sturdy elastic band which wouldn’t lose its shape over time. Now you know why this well-made baby is one of my wardrobe staples!

In this set of photos, I wore it slightly high-waisted by holding it up with a belt. You can wear it as it is on your waist for a more formal corporate look too. Killing two birds with one stone has never been easier. πŸ˜‰

Pleated skirt from ClubCouture
Nude pumps from Ferragamo
Gold socks from Asos.com
Top from Far East Plaza
Bag from Drip Drops

ClubCouture is now having an Easter sale!
Just key in BUNNY100 upon checkout for 15% off.
Time to go shopping ladies!

Handicraft with Yitian

April 9, 2012 by Regina Chow 1 Comment
Yitian wanted to surprise her hubby with a photo collage in a customized photo frame, so off we went to Artfriend to get some items to decorate the plain wooden frames from Ikea. πŸ˜‰ We got a few bottles of metallic spray paint, glitter and stars.

Time to get down to work! Yitian started spraying one of the wooden frames with silver metallic paint.

While the paint was still wet, we took turns to sprinkle blue glitter and silver stars along the frame. We spent all but 10 minutes to decorate this. Such a quick and easy way to transform a plain photo frame into something presentable!

My turn! Shake shake shake! It’s important to shake the spray can to ensure that the paint is uniformly distributed upon application. πŸ˜‰

My first attempt at spray painting.

Erm, do I look like I’m spraying insecticide? LOL!

No, I wasn’t trying to kill a cockroach.

I decided on a whim to decorate an accessory box. The wooden box was purchased from Artfriend and it cost me about $7. This is the end result after scattering pink and silver glitter as well as some silver stars. Pretty?

Yitian was captivated by this cute little wooden propeller plane at Artfriend, so we bought it and decorated it too!

It was quite a fun experience. πŸ˜€ I’m not a very artistic person by nature and my mum used to do all my art homework for me in school (although for some reason, I still did well during my art exams), but this is easy peasy! Definitely a piece of cake for anyone!
