Pregnancy is not a handicap, neither is it an illness

September 6, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

pregnancy is not a handicap

Indeed, it isn’t. But sometimes, it makes you feel handicapped. Because not every woman has the good fortune of experiencing a growing uterus (and baby of course) without the accompanying side effects of nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, food aversions and mood swings. And mind you, these are totally beyond your control. You’ll never know when any of these ailments would strike. It could happen anytime, anywhere.

nausea meme

During my first trimester, I threw up whenever I saw food on TV. Or I would be at my cafe prepping food, and the next minute, without warning, I’d be grabbing a plastic bag doing a Merlion with bloodshot eyes.

It’s not like the common flu where you can just pop some pills and keep symptoms under control. Plus there are days or weeks, especially in the first trimester, when you just feel like shit and the only way to feel better is to lie in bed.

pregnancy sick meme

Sadly, no medication will make you feel better. Even if there is, you will think twice about taking them unless absolutely necessary because you’ll worry about potential impact on your unborn child. Honestly, if that doesn’t make you feel handicapped, I don’t know what does.

I remember managing an 11-day event that ended at 3am everyday while nursing a bad flu and high fever before I was pregnant. I’m very sure I couldn’t have done the same now. Case in point: I went on a 4 day staycation with my hubby and all I could do was lie in bed all day because I was constantly nauseous and tired. I felt like someone else had taken over my body. I nearly blacked out on a few occasions too – when I was standing in line to buy breakfast and when I was standing on the train for an extended period of time.

I also hated plain water until recently. I couldn’t stomach anything other than home cooked Chinese food till the middle of my second trimester. If you know how much I love food, you’ll know that my food aversions did nothing to lift my mood. I cried more easily too and the slightest trigger would set me off.

pregnancy hormones meme

Every pregnancy is different. Some people have it good. Some people have it bad. Even if you had a baby previously, that doesn’t guarantee your next pregnancy would be smooth-sailing.

Admittedly, I would never have understood how tough being a working preggy mum is until I’ve experienced it for myself. The intention of writing this piece is not to whine, rant or seek sympathy. In fact, I’ve never told anyone the extent of discomfort I felt till now and I know many have it far worse than I did. I hope that by sharing my experience, people around us can better understand what expectant mothers go through and try to empathise with them, regardless of whether their pregnancy was by choice or not.

After all, being able to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes is one of the most desirable traits of human beings.

Be kind, because pregnant ladies are fighting battles too, just like you. Nobody expects you to kiss their feet or worship them just because they’re bringing life to this world but basic courtesy/common sense and little gestures like giving up your seat on public transport would certainly help. A little compassion goes a long way,  especially in our increasingly self-entitled society, and if we could all be more understanding, perhaps, just perhaps, our dwindling birth rate is more likely to pick up? 😉

Seeing Double at Wild Wild Wet!

June 24, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Did you know that Wild Wild Wet (yes, that water theme park in Pasir Ris!) is back in action? It’s now double the size and double the fun! To add on to the celebratory mood, Wild Wild Wet is also holding a Seeing Double campaign offering free entry to those who are dressed identically. Yes, free entry  (and more perks which you’ll find out at the end of the post)!

I attended the media event with Sydney recently and we both agreed to turn up in black and white. Upon arrival, we were greeted by visitors who were all dressed identically. In fact, Wild Wild Wet had a record number of 111 visitors who came identically dressed!

Be sure to try Singapore’s longest inflatable freestyle water slide, The Woosh. It looks mild but you can expect 50 metres of exhilaration and adrenalin pumping action once you’re on it! Don’t be fooled though, it’s suitable for both kids and adults!

This was my first time at Wild Wild Wet and I was impressed by the wide variety of rides that cater to everyone! Royal Flush is yet another new thrilling ride that you shouldn’t miss out on. Remember to hang on tight to prepare for the unexpected twists and turns!

Torpedo is the roller coaster equivalent in the water park, complete with steep drops and tight turns to set your hearts racing.

If you’re a parent and on the lookout for places to go this school holidays, you’ll be happy to know that Kids Zone, as the name suggests, is the perfect spot for families with kids in tow. Yes, your kiddos can have their fair share of fun at Wild Wild Wet too!

For those of us who prefer to just hang out at a slow, leisurely pace sans all the drama, the Shiok River (also known as Lazy River), is the place to be. Even if you can’t swim, you can easily pick out a lifejacket and a float, jump into the river and literally go with the flow. Now, that’s my idea of a relaxing weekend.

Remember to take advantage of the Seeing Double campaign which ends on 31 July! Besides free entry when you dress identically, click HERE to find out more about the perks you’ll benefit from. You just might win yourself a 2D1N staycation at D’Resort and Downtown East vouchers too!

W.Lab Korean Beauty Products That I’ve Been Obsessed With

April 24, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

aa

I have a soft spot for beauty brands that go the extra mile to incorporate natural ingredients into their products, which is why Korean brand W.lab left a lasting impression on me. Recently launched in Singapore, you can find their products at aresa.sg, Sasa Singapore, Lazada and Zalora.

Their Blossom White Cushion is one of my favourite products as it offers impeccable coverage with just one application and imparts a beautiful glow on your skin. It is formulated with 33% damask rose water, a natural ingredient that heals and protects your skin at the same time. I use it selectively on parts of my face to even out the skin tone. I love that it comes with SPF50 protection, whitens your skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. In fact, I can tell that my eye area has less lines when I use this and it is pigmented enough to conceal my dark circles too!

To add on to that gorgeous glow, you have to check out Bling Bling Cheek, a multi-purpose blusher that also doubles up as a highlighter and eyeshadow. It is created using a hand-made baking technique with Smart Complex Oil Coating System to enhance the durability and adhesiveness of the blusher to your skin.

I also adore the pocket shadow palette in Edge, which comprises 5 matte and 5 glitter colours. This multi-functional palette can be used as eyeshadow, eyebrow shading powder, and highlighting and contouring powder. How convenient, especially for those of us who are constantly on the go.

Here’s a look that I put together with the above products:

While makeup has the ability to enhance our features, maintaining a good skincare routine plays just as important a role (if not more). It probably didn’t come as a surprise that W.Lab has a dedicated skincare line to complement their makeup products too.

At the end of the day, I always make it a point to thoroughly remove all the makeup on my face before heading to bed, no matter how tired I am.

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty makeup remover that doesn’t leave your skin feeling taut, you have to give W.lab’s Milk Protein Cleansing Balm a go. It gently melts away sebum and thick makeup yet leaves your skin feeling moisturized. Use the spatula provided, scoop out a small portion (as pictured) and that’s all you need to cleanse your entire face.

I hope you enjoyed my review of these products. Now, I can’t wait to try the other goodies in this range!

Hassle-free Taobao Shopping with Ezbuy (Free S$10 Credits included!)

April 21, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Taobao became my best friend when I was living in China last year. I got to scout out the best deals and shop in the comfort of my home. Convenience aside, every time my parcels arrived, it felt like Christmas.

Overseas shipping is a challenge now that I’m back in Singapore, which is why I rely on Ezbuy for hassle free Taobao shopping .

Why Ezbuy?

 1. Transparent shipping costs

My greatest worry when it comes to international shipping is unknown and unexpected shipping costs. With ezbuy, you know exactly how much you will be paying as the products and shipping cost are clearly stated upon checkout. Only ONE payment is needed and shipping is as low as S$1.69 for your fashion apparel!

2. Value-added agent services

While I can speak and write Chinese fluently, I’ve heard horror stories about how some Taobao vendors try to scam international buyers as it’s more difficult for overseas buyers to seek recourse. Ezbuy saves you the trouble of having to communicate with Chinese vendors and falling prey to potential scams.

I also like how ezbuy’s inspection service and aftersales service offer you complete peace of mind. You’ll never have to worry about missing or defective items being sent to you.Case in point: I remember some of the chairs I ordered from ezbuy late last year went missing. You’ll be happy to know that ezbuy promptly refunded me the difference.

3. Prime shipping (S$2.99)

You know those chairs I told you about? I got a few of them shipped over at just S$2.99! If you’re thinking of renovating your home, be sure to look out for ezbuy’s Prime deals.

Free Agent Fee for April 2017

Now, here’s the good news. All shoppers will be able to enjoy ezbuy’s value-added services at no additional cost this month!

Online shopping is a breeze with ezbuy and here are just some of the amazing Taobao deals that I managed to snag:

This pair of nude gladiator heels is a head-turner and instant conversation starter.

As you can tell, it goes with just about anything!

Here’s a full outfit from Taobao. The minimalist bag is one of my wardrobe favourites. I love it so much, I gave one to a close friend as a gift.

Here are some of my favourite bohemian dresses from Tabao vai ezbuy:

Are you new to ezbuy? Sign up here to get S$10 credit and shop at ezbuy now!

And you know what the best part is? No minimum spending is required!

Do you know what’s 5 Times Better Than Hyaluronic Acid?

April 4, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

The benefits of hyaluronic acid, especially its moisturizing properties, need no introduction. But did you know that there’s something else in the market that is completely natural and achieves the same goal?  I was recently introduced to Vivacé, a Taiwanese skincare brand founded by a group of medical professionals. Keeping your skin suitably hydrated is at the heart of what Vivacé aims to achieve with its range of skincare products which are formulated with an organic extract, γPGA, or Gamma PGA. In fact, its skincare range is organic and is free of parabens, animal protein, and hyaluronic acid, making it ideal even for sensitive skin types.

What is γPGA?

γPGA is a plant-based ingredient derived from Japanese natto. Based on research by the Japanese Medical Association, it provides up to 5 times more intensive hydration than its animal-based counterpart, hyaluronic acid.

I spend most of my time managing my F&B business (Foxhole Cafe) these days and being in an air-conditioned environment all day long dries up my skin. Pigmentation was my primary skin concern, but now dehydrated skin is an issue I have to grapple with as well. Most hydrating products are either too greasy to my liking or not moisturizing enough for my skin.

Well, at least that was before Vivacé came along.

Vivacé Bright Hydra Cream

This is a night cream that nurtures and lifts your skin while locking in moisture at the same time. It also protects your skin from free radicals and pollution. I am always on the lookout for anti-aging products and I couldn’t be happier to discover that this cream contains copper DNA & truffle extract, which are proven to have potent anti-aging properties.

Don’t be fooled by how rich the cream looks. Developed specially for those of us who live in low to mid altitude climates, it doesn’t feel greasy at all when applied.

In fact, it glides on beautifully and absorbs as readily as a serum. It plumps up my skin instantly, making it feel silky soft and smooth. This is the only product I apply on my face before bedtime and I love waking up to radiant, moisturized skin every morning. Sometimes, I cheat and apply it as a day moisturizer as well simply because it produces amazing results. After a week of usage, I can tell that my skin is now more hydrated than before and my pores appear smaller too.

Vivacé Matte Night Jelly

The Matte Night Jelly is a sleeping mask. All you have to do is to squeeze out about 2 large pearls’ size worth of product, apply it to your face and go to bed. Wash it off in the morning and you’re good to go!

Personally, I find that the matte night jelly has a more lightweight texture than the night cream and would be perfect for normal to oily skin types. These days, I alternate between the night cream and night jelly. The night jelly also comes in a handy tube which is perfect for traveling.

Vivacé Aging-defy Biotechnology Mask (3 Sheets in 1 Pack)

Aging-defy Biotechnology Mask is their star product. It boasts superior hydrating properties and one sheet is equivalent to one ampoule.

Initially used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons for post-treatment and surgery clients, this mask is safe to use even for the most sensitive skin types. It is completely paraben-free and safe for pregnant or lactating ladies too.

The mask’s jelly-like material adheres to your face like second skin. As it isn’t made from petrochemical byproducts unlike most of its counterparts in the market, it is actually safe to leave the mask on overnight. Amazing isn’t it? The best part is, the essence absorbs completely into your skin without any sticky after-feel.

For optimal results, it is recommended that you leave the mask on for at least 40 minutes on the first day of usage. Leave the next mask on overnight on the second day. As you can tell from the photo below, you’ll wake up with baby soft, dewy skin that glows from within. I couldn’t stop touching my skin thereafter. I highly recommend this mask if you are suffering from dull, dehydrated skin as it’ll give your skin a much needed boost. More importantly, the results are immediate.

Vivacé Lite Facial Mask (5 sheets in a pack)

If whitening is your objective, try the Lite Facial Mask. It’s made from pulp and feels similar to most sheet masks in the market. This is great if you love outdoor activities but do not wish to be tanned. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes. I use this once a week to keep my skin fair.

Sephora Spring Press Day 2017 Part 1

March 10, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Sephora Spring Press Day is one of my favourite beauty events. It’s a dream come true for beauty fanatics (like me!) as you’ll be treated to a sneak preview of the latest products coming to Sephora this quarter and try them before they hit the stores!

High performance and high coverage – these are the characteristics of Kat Von D’s makeup range. The Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation (S$56) is my holy grail. I don’t know about you, but I always have problems matching foundation to my skin tone. They’re usually either too fair, too orangey or too dark for me. Now, Lock-It Foundation comes in a grand total of 32 shades so you can be assured that there is a shade for everyone. I love its matte velvety texture which glides on smoothly without caking and how lightweight it feels on my skin despite its full coverage. And you know what’s the best part? It provides 24 hour wear with transfer resistance!

You don’t actually need to set the foundation with loose powder. As I only apply foundation on my upper cheeks due to pigmentation (it’s fading away thanks to my laser sessions at Astique Clinic!), I typically dust a sheer layer of the Lock-It Brightening Powder ($42) all over my face to give it a matte finish. Did you know that this brightening powder was developed to brighten up your undereye area? Those of us with dark eye circles can now rejoice.

I honestly can’t stop raving about this series. I love the Tattoo Liner (S$32) and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (S$31) too. As their names suggest, yes you can trust them to last throughout the day.

Here’s a simple everyday make-up look I created with Kat Von D’s products:

Get your brow game on with Zoeva’s eyebrow palette which comes in a wide variety of hues to achieve the brows of your dreams!

I’ve always been a fan of NUDESTIX’s lip and eye colours. They’re highly pigmented and glide effortlessly on your skin, plus the nifty crayon-like packaging means you can easily slip them into your bag. I can’t wait to try their new sculpting pencil for contouring and highlighting.

Here’s one of my favourite Korean brands – Moonshot by YG Entertainment. Their latest range of Lip Feat lippies (S$29) is inspired by 4 different music genres – electronic, hip hop, modern rock and acoustic. I love that they are formulated without parabens, phenoxyethanol and benzophenone, so you can be sure that these babies are safe for your health.

These lipsticks offer amazing colour payoff and are available in semi-matte, natural gloss or full coverage finishes. The unique slant at the tip, also known the Moonshot signature bullet, is the icing on the cake as it promises flawless, mistake-proof application.

Fans of G-Dragon can also check out Moonshot’s GD Eau De Toilette (50ml – S$85). Be sure to look out for the latest Big Bang 10 hand cream and lip balm which will be coming to Sephora soon!

Erno Laszlo New York is a skincare brand that I’ve been wanting to try. Established since 1927, the luxury skincare brand soon made it to the beauty routine of famous personalities such as Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. It is safe even for sensitive skins as it is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

Treatment bars are their star products. I received the White Marble Treatment Bar (S$70), which claims to be more than just a soap as it has whitening properties too. You’re supposed to dip the soap bar in a basin of warm water, then gently massage it on your face before splashing your face with the “treatment water” in the basin. I can’t wait to try the full works.

The White Marble Translucence Cream (S$180) promises to boost your skin’s radiance and block melanin production. Sounds like just what I need for my pigmentation-prone skin!

Ouai (pronounced “Way”), is a new range of haircare products by American celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkins. I love the minimalist packaging and can totally picture them sitting prettily on my dressing table.

Marc Jacobs Liquid Lip Crème (S$44) provides hydrating 8-hour wear that comes in a luxurious liquid formula to keep your lips looking full and plump all day long. I’ve yet it try this myself but it promises that your lips will never look cracked thanks to its Brazilian cupuaçu butter and collagen formula.

To make your eyes pop instantly, try the Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon (S$38) which gives a bold, matte finish. I love the waterproof gel formula. Whirlpool is a striking green shade that can be used for artistic graphic liner looks or to line your inner rims too.

All Marc Jacobs Beauty products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

I have a few eyeshadow palettes from Tarte, and the brand never fails to amaze with their new palettes. The Tarteist Pro to Go Palette (S$35) includes four longwearing matte and metallic eyeshadows infused with Amazonian clay for smooth blending and flake-resistant wear, plus two iridescent lusters with a microshimmer duochrome formula. Blending is a breeze and you can create many different looks with just one compact palette that fits perfectly into the tiniest of purses.

I was blown away by the Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight & Contour Palette (S$80). Each contour shade has a rich, cool undertone that resembles real shadow and light reflection to help you to create a natural look. The four intense highlighting powders also deliver a buildable, micro-shimmer strobing effect.

Caolion is a Korean brand that focuses on natural ingredients that are suitable for sensitive skin. The founder firmly believes that edible skincare products will not irritate your skin, which is why she actually went the extra mile to taste each product. How intriguing.

I received the Caolion Hot & Cool Pore Pack Duo, a detoxifying duo that features a steaming mask which opens and deeply cleanses pores, then a cooling mask to tighten and minimize the appearance of pores. Can’t wait to try this as I am prone to blackheads and whiteheads too.

First Aid Beauty offers skincare for all skin types, even eczema-prone and sensitive skin. All their products are free of Artificial Colorants and Artificial Fragrances, Parabens, Alcohol, Lanolin, Propylene Glycol, Phthalates, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum and Sulfates.

The Hello Fab 3 in 1 Superfruit Colour Correcting Cushion (S$59) comes with three tints to decrease redness, brighten dullness and even out your skin tone. Green neutralises redness; Pink helps even skin tone; and Purple helps brighten and reduce dullness. It is one of the prettiest cushions I’ve seen to date, and I’ll love to put this to the test and see how it fares.

The Hello Fab Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer  (S$46) is a superfood-powered, oil-free priming moisturiser that brightens and visibly blurs pores and imperfections for a smoother finish.

Supergoop is known for its extensive range of sunscreens and I’ve tried their oil-free Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50 (S$47). What caught my eye this time was the Defense Refresh Setting Mist with Rosemary with SPF 50 (S$17). Reviews for the setting mist seem rather mixed online, but I’ll give it a shot nonetheless.

Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Foaming Cleanser is a powerful, medicated cleanser that delivers a luxuriously whipped texture and three percent sulfur to address acne and blemishes, draw out impurities, and target congested pores. Honey and rice bran extracts calm redness, while natural oat extract addresses excess sebum. Continued usage will apparently result in visibly minimized pores. I can’t wait to try!

Anti-aging skincare is slowly worming its way into my beauty routine now that I’m nearing my mid 30s. I’ve read positive reviews about Kate Somerville’s Wrinkle Warrior 2-in-1 Plumping Moisturizer & Serum. Formulated with three sizes of hyaluronic acid to effectively target various skin concerns, this sounds just like what I need for my post-laser treatments. It visibly plumps and hydrates while reducing the appearance of three different types of wrinkles: crow’s feet, fine lines, and deep wrinkles. As with many of the brands that I shared, Kate Somerville is also formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

June Jacobs has also unveiled two travel-friendly masques in resealable packs that you can easily pack into your luggage for overseas travels.

I’ll be sharing more details about the other products from my Sephora Spring Press Day haul in my next post. Keep your eyes peeled!

Running a Cafe

February 3, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Some of you may already be aware that I started running a cafe at the end of last year when I announced the birth of my new baby, Foxhole Café (@foxholecafesg), in collaboration with friends from The Pourover Bar. By some stroke of luck, this baby has spared me from other baby-related questions during this Chinese New Year too.

Friends, relatives and customers alike have been asking me about my motivations for starting a cafe and what it is like to actually run one. Truth be told, I am far from a domestic goddess. I don’t cook regularly and neither do I bake. Fortunately, no man is an island and I can’t be more grateful for being able to work alongside my capable partners to make this venture happen.

And so, the question remains.

What is it like to run a cafe?

1) Long Working Hours

Cafe hours are no different from retail hours. We believe in being hands-on at the initial stage, so you’ll see me at the shop everyday from 10am to 10pm (except Tuesday, our off day). Coming in before 10am to set up the shop and finishing past 10pm due to clean up is the norm. Be prepared to sacrifice your social and family life – well, fortunately, they know exactly where to find you.

2) Lots of Multi-tasking

Multi-tasking is absolutely necessary especially when there are multiple drink and food orders. Cashiering, serving and cleaning duties aside, we develop our own recipes and prepare all the food and drinks by ourselves.

Yes, working at a café is like playing Diner Dash in real life.

3) Chatting with customers

Service is important to us and going the extra mile to talk to customers, seek their feedback and make them feel at home is at the heart of what we do. The customer is always right and we value all feedback, both positive and negative.

4) R&D and Liaising with Suppliers

In between food prep, cleaning, serving and the works, we are also communicating with suppliers, sampling ingredients and coming up with new recipes. Intensive R&D is done before we roll out each and every item on our menu because we only serve what we would personally put in our own tummies.

5) Marketing & Photography

Marketing through various platforms takes time, and we are always on the lookout for new collaboration opportunities. In many ways, this baby of mine has taken my passion for marketing and photography to a whole new level.

I wish I could tell you all we do is chill out with songs from our amazing Spotify playlist playing in the background (although you may spot us jiving to the beat every now and then), but the truth can’t be any further from that.

I guess in a nutshell, that’s what running a café is like. At least at the onset before you start building a team that you can trust. It’s no secret that the F&B industry is a challenging one. Being able to find the right people to join our team is just one of the hurdles. It takes a lot of hard work intellectually, physically and mentally, but at the end of the day, putting a smile on our customers’ faces and seeing these familiar faces come through our doors again and again is what keeps us going.

Plus, in my mother-in-law’s opinion, a real woman is able to whip up a feast and I have miraculously morphed into a real woman in her eyes after starting a café. It’s always good to get your mother-in-law’s nod of approval, no?

Dealing with Awkward Situations this Chinese New Year

January 25, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Did you become more ‘prosperous’? Why are you so skinny? You should eat more! These are just some of the more common questions that pop up during Chinese New Year gatherings. While our relatives may be genuinely concerned about how we are leading our lives, they may not understand that these questions put many of us in a difficult position.

Year after year, I get questions about whether I am eating enough or if I have worms in my tummy because I am so skinny. The truth is, I have a very healthy appetite. In fact, my friends can attest that I have a voracious appetite but I just don’t put on weight as easily.

So, how do I deal with such awkward situations?

Putting on Your A-Game Look

Start by having confidence in yourself. Personally, I find that dressing well and putting your best foot forward gives me that extra boost of confidence. To dress well, pick out clothes in colours that suit your skin tone. Know what your best and worst features are and choose clothes that flatter your body shape. For me, I try to pick clothes with ruffles or details that give me more ‘volume’. It works because I realized I don’t get questions about my weight as often as before!

Sounds easier said than done?

Here’s some useful advice from Lunch Actually’s image consultant Celeste Bo:

THOSE Questions That You Get When You Are Single

What about other questions like:

When are you getting married? Are you attached? When are you having children?

I for one, always have to brace myself for questions related to procreation every Chinese New Year.

These questions are harder to answer in my opinion. But, I have come to realize that being honest instead of evasive or negative makes a difference. Just let your relatives know that you are actively looking for a partner, trying your best to start a family and give them a wide smile. More often than not, they’ll let it pass.

Here’re some other tips that you can pick up from Lunch Actually’s Senior Dating Consultant Andrea Tan:

Finding Love This New Year

Now that you have enough ammunition to counter all the awkward questions that you’ll face this Chinese New Year, perhaps it’s about time to sit down and think about how you can truly find love this new year?

Many of my friends who are single lament about the lack of opportunities to meet new people. How do you expand your social circle to meet more people? Do you know what you want in a partner?

Gather some tips from Lunch Actually’s Senior Dating Consultant, Joy Tay:

I’m sure most of us need no introduction to Lunch Actually, which offers personal, discreet and secure dating service to working professionals like you and I. What’s great about their service is that a screening process is conducted for each and every individual, and the dating consultants go the extra mile to understand more about your lifestyle, interests and character to find a high quality match for you. Psychological, intellectual and physical factors are taken into consideration too.

More importantly, rest assured that your personal information including photographs and contact details are kept confidential as only your first name will be disclosed to the other party. Everything is arranged for you on the backend by their dating consultants based on your availability and preferences. Once a match is found, all you have to do is turn up at the restaurant!

Kinohimitsu Marine Collagen Review

January 23, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Prepping our skin with skincare products alone is not enough to achieve healthy, glowing skin. What you consume on a daily basis makes a world of difference too. As you and I probably already know, collagen is essential to both skin health and elasticity. By that same token, taking collagen supplements on a regular basis is important for baby smooth skin and keeping those wrinkles at bay! I started taking Kinohimitsu Marine Collagen recently as its nifty packaging makes packing a breeze when I travel.

I usually fill my water tumbler with cold water, put in a spoonful of collagen goodness and give it a good mix.
Every packet is resealable and comes with a plastic scoop for ease of use. Each spoonful of collagen powder is also power packed with age-fighter Marine Collagen, all-round-hydrator Green Caviar™, glycation-fighter Formosa Ruby™ and free radical-fighter Vitamin C to help your skin to reverse the signs of ageing and turn back the clock. It makes for a delicious drink thanks to its refreshing lychee flavour.
Did you know that the efficacy of collagen products depends on its molecular weight too? The lower the molecular weight, the easier it is for your body to absorb the collagen particles. Kinohimitsu collagen powder has a very low molecular weight, making it easy to absorb and achieve effective results. Beyond just Type 1 collagen for skin and beauty, it also contains Type 3 collagen to improve bone, ligament and tendon quality! No preservatives, hormones and heavy metals are used too.
When I first read about seeing visible results in 6 days, I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical. But now that I’m on day 10, I’m happy to report that my skin looks more hydrated and radiant than before despite late nights and perpetual lack of sleep. All I can say is, Kinohimitsu’s Marine Collagen Powder is working its magic on my skin!
If you’re planning to look your best this Chinese New Year, time is still on your side. Get your dose of Kinohimitsu today!

January 15, 2017 by Regina Chow No Comments

Ever since I had Korea Combo Eyebrow Embroidery done by Arch Angel Brow, there was no turning back. My new brows done by their founder Kelly framed my features beautifully and complemented my face shape too . Don’t even get me started on how convenient it is to wake up with beautiful brows every morning. Do you have any idea what my brows used to look like? Click here to refer to my previous review. Be warned – the transformation is pretty shocking.

The effects of Korea Combo Eyebrow Embroidery can last about 1.5 – 2 years with touch-up. The benefits? No downtime, no interference with your beauty routine and naturally groomed brows. Kelly underwent rigorous training in Korea and she was the first to introduce this Korean eyebrow embroidery technique in Singapore.
After I returned from my year-long stint in China, I popped by Arch Angel Brow for a touch-up at the end of last year.
As you can tell from the before and after pictures, my brows were getting a little unruly. Besides reshaping my brows, Kelly recommended tinting them to match my lighter hair colour. Don’t you think my new set of brows look even better than ever?
One of the biggest misconceptions about Korea Combo Eyebrow Embroidery is that you have to suit straight Korean brows. If that is your concern, then I’m the perfect example to prove you wrong.
The technique is from Korea but at the end of the day, the shape and design of the brows depends on your face shape and facial features. No two faces are the same, which is why it is so important to engage a qualified professional with years of experience and an aesthetic eye.
You can have the best technology but without a proficient consultant with an artistic flair, your brows can look drastically different. I have complete faith in Arch Angel Brow because Kelly is a perfectionist with an eye for detail, and she has the same expectations of her team. I walk out of the shop feeling confident and satisfied every time!
Now that Chinese New Year is just around the corner, it’s time to get your brow game on too!
